Setting scope is not a punishment

As a GP my scope of practice is limited to what I’ve been trained & examined in & thus deemed competent & safe to do…

ie. diagnosing & managing undifferentiated patients

My scope of practice means I am NOT & will NEVER be allowed to:

- perform surgery
- initiate chemotherapy
- report investigations
- carry stroke consultant oncall bleep etc

It keeps patients safe & it keeps me safe.

Scope of practice exists solely for patient safety. EVERY SINGLE health care worker works to a scope of practice - there is NO reason that PAs should be an exception to this.

Israel is dropping bombs near Beirut’s International Airport as planes full of civilians prepare to take off.

Imagine the global uproar if such a scene took place in Ukraine. But since it’s happening in Lebanon, no one even bats an eyelash.
