This is utterly inexcusable.

Yesterday, HDPA revealed that Chloe Swarbrick wrote directly to the European Union’s Trade Commissioner, complaining that New Zealand is not cutting emissions sufficiently and asking him to launch a formal investigation into whether we have breached the Free Trade Agreement.

Her actions risked exposing our economy and exporters to the very real threat of sanctions — or even worse.

That Swarbrick and the Greens attended the National Agricultural Fieldays in Hamilton without disclosing any of this to farmers or the media, even though she held a stand-up directly mentioning Free Trade Agreements and export markets and called on the govt to be honest and transparent — is nothing short of disgraceful and deeply hypocritical.

It simply beggars belief that the media aren’t all over this.

You support and bolster the people promoting and inciting this behaviour. The woman who leaked Winston Peters address to the world stood next to Chloe Swarbrick at a presser yesterday. The same woman was on a podcast/zoom call with TPMs Debbie Ngarewa-Packer. I suspect most Labour supporters are genuinely horrified by all of this.

In 2022, I was working at MBIE and there was a situation where an adjacent team needed to fill a vacant board position. They proposed several highly qualified candidates to the minister, David Clark, but each was rejected for not meeting his "diversity expectations".

This was especially frustrating as the role required a certain level of expertise and, while there were plenty of qualified candidates in NZ, none met the minister's "diversity requirements." The team eventually had to start looking overseas for options..
