“Advil PM, Benadryl, Tylenol PM, Zzquil, a beer… Percocet, Vicodin that I would take every night to sleep 4 hours”- Greg Oden
Greg Oden’s struggles in Portland had little to do with basketball. Battling bulimia, alcohol, drugs, and the weight of immense expectations, he was fighting battles far beyond the court.
Unable to sleep, Oden created his own dangerous mix of over-the-counter medication, alcohol, and prescription painkillers. Though only 19, the “house party guy” found ways to cope that ultimately fueled a downward spiral.

I’m practicing what I preach. Currently preparing to interview and hire 2 of the most talented young sales people I know. If u aren’t putting good ppl on who need the oppty, hand over those keys
I honestly think dude who bought the Blazers is gonna treat it purely like an appreciating asset. Super low costs. Money over performance. Like Donald Sterling, from a biz perspective. All bad.
Peace to @jermainedupri . My name is Dizzy Wright.
Around 2000, my mom brought me and my brother to meet with you about signing to your label. Long story short… you told us we weren’t ready.
You can see it in the photo. There wasn’t really anything “cool” about us. Just two poor kids trying to figure it out. Hell, my mom couldn’t even afford contacts at the time.
But that meeting changed my life. It was the first time somebody told me I wasn’t fit for the position. Not from a place of hate, just honesty and professionalism. You told us exactly what we needed to work on, and because of who you were in the music industry, we took every word seriously.
Fast forward to today… You might not even know who I am, but I’m one of the kids who didn’t get picked. I didn’t become Kris Kross. I got to become Dizzy Wright.
Over a billion streams later, a career built independently, and a fanbase that’s allowed me to travel the world doing what I love. I see your name in a lot of conversations these days, and I see you defending your legacy. I just wanted to publicly give you your flowers.
Because what you contributed goes way beyond the artists you signed. You inspired a whole generation of kids who heard “not yet” and turned it into motivation. People only know what they know. & Nobody knew this story until now.
So thank you for being honest with two kids who weren’t ready.
And if you need another No. 1 anytime soon…
Just know, I’m ready now. 🫡 - Gwalla
