@callen0013 Or, take it away from the ump entirely. There are plenty of tasks for a home plate ump even without calling balls and strikes. Yeah, they do a good job, until they don't, and it impacts the game.
@RJHINDM@ROLLINRAIDER Layla should leave. Deal should stay but she needs to accept turning into a better Kylie. She isn't turning into Kate Martin and is light years from Clark. (most are, to be fair)
@Jay_3shifty I think Jan and her staff did a decent job with a young team that lacked an aggressive scoring guard. HOWEVER, she must own the system she's running that seems incapable of improvisation when the plan gets taken away.
@DavidEickholt Jan is a great players' coach, a great recruiter and a borderline terrible in-game coach. It always looks like the team is afraid to just 'make shit up' when the scout and the game plan isn't working. I don't want to trade her, but don't pretend for a moment that she's Bluder.
@IndyHawk89 She can't currently shake press coverage (to use a football term) and she consistently passes up the midrange that Lucy cashed in all the time last year. Her speed is OK in open space but she's too easy to slow down. Defensively, she's showing improvement though.
@Simon_Ingari This is absolutely correct. Decades ago, I had a manager (good guy, by the way) tell me what I would have had to do to get another 0.5% on my yearly increase. After I heard of the work, I told him to keep it. The look on his face was priceless.
@OHawkeyes I will keep screaming this until I'm proven wrong or enough people start to agree. There are not enough discretionary dollars within 90 min of CHA to support the ladies AND the men. While the women are the hot ticket, this will continue.
@ScottDochterman I know it's a basketball analogy, but I always taught my kids in youth hoops that "it's a foul if the official blows the whistle." Many will want a different call, but the silence ends all debate. Not targeting to the ONLY people that matter.
