This week for #WeReadWednesday, we're reading with a theme - "The Ship Who ..." and delving into the world of the Brainships!
The Ship Who Searched by Anne McCaffrey and @mercedeslackey
A young woman becomes paralyzed and must become a brainship—and find her Brawn, her human soul mate, so that she can discover a cure for her illness.
Tia Cade is a headstrong, smart, and very normal girl until she contracts a terrible illness that leaves her with the bare semblance of life. Tia's only hope: to become the oldest person ever to train to be one of the legendary star travelers, the brainships. But now that Tia is free of her ravaged body, there still remains the task of finding the right partner to be her Brawn, the human element every brainship requires. And when the disease that debilitated Tia threatens thousands more, selecting a Brawn who is her true soul mate may allow Tia to find the origin of the terrible plague—and perhaps even a cure.

@Jindo_1307979 The clue is in the post. 99.9%. Move lower left of the 1s digit to upper right of 100s digit. One move gives you 909. Then move lower left of 10s digit to crossbar of 10s digit = 999.
@neiltyson Neil - the effective communication of science is one of the most important things a scientist can do.
That's NOT what you are doing. You are communicating only condescension and derision.
Just shut up.
Sincerely, Dr. (a REAL one) Hampson - educator, researcher, communicator.
@BrendanCarrFCC Many years ago, a law was passed making it illegal to spoof caller ID, mask phone numbers and provide false #s. Are you now admitting that you AREN'T DOING YOUR JOBS?
Had a blast talking with Robert E Hampson @ThingyInBrainy about his new novel “Across an Ocean of Stars” from the Black Tide Rising Series.
Zelda in the comments.
For this week's #WeReadWednesday, we're looking at an anthology edited by @ThingyInBrainy (Robert E. Hampson) & Sandra Medlock, "THE FOUNDER EFFECT."
It is 2185 CE. Humans now live throughout the Solar System, but their most ambitious adventure is about to begin. The starship Victoria will carry over 10,000 colonists to a new world outside the solar system. The larger-than-life exploits of those colonists will become legendary. The colonists will build a new civilization, and the actions of a few individuals will become famous—and infamous—forever marking their new colony with the Founder Effect.

1/20) I'm a scientist, and a science fiction author. I have a day job, so my SF writing is on nights and weekends. The best use of time for me is to dictate while driving to and from work. I can set the voice-to-text transcription while eating supper, then edit the transcription later in the evening.
19/20) Keep in mind that the instructions you provide are accompanied by hidden system instructions that ensure that the output is "ethical" (and other keywords). So, consider input and output word limits accordingly - ChatGPT works best with <10,000 words input, and 1,000 words output.
