#Indonesia has once again become the focus of renewed information campaigns beginning in May 2026. Certain accounts circulated a large number of tweets about a signed deal to acquire Chinese J-10 fighter jets by Indonesia that were further amplified by #Chinese and #Pakistan linked accounts.

#Indonesia is facing the aggressively promoted online coordinated narratives and disinformation campaigns for Chinese military technology.
The apparent objective was to cast doubt on #Rafale purchases while positioning Chinese fighters like the J-10 as superior alternatives in the global defense market. Recently, several accounts have circulated claims that Jakarta has already signed a deal to acquire Chinese J-10 fighter jets.
However, no official agreement has been finalized. While Indonesian officials had previously expressed interest in acquiring the J-10, reports from Tempo indicate that the government is still assessing multiple fighter options, meaning a deal may or may not ultimately materialize.

Much of the J-10 promotion intensified after the India–Pakistan conflict and #OperationSindoor , with social media networks amplifying claims that the aircraft had outperformed India’s Rafales in combat.
#Indonesia became a major target of these narratives at the time, as hashtags like #HentikanRafaleDeal (“Stop Rafale Deal”) circulated online in an apparent attempt to influence opinion against Jakarta’s Rafale acquisition plans.
