@sang1983@dmuthuk Trust this will pay off. We need educated and qualified people at the helm of the affairs. Hope Mr Ramachandran will make his mark. Best wishes.
@Indicfederr0d Nope. On the contrary, expect some quick jumps from TN Congress to TVK — perhaps beginning with Tagore. That would carry a touch of poetic symbolism.
Below is the explanation by Prof Krishnamoorthy - Ex CEA.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 "𝟮.𝟲% 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵 𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲" 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺: a hilarious demonstration of economic ignorance on National TV.
𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 #𝟭: Take a nominal GDP number from the old series and compare it with a nominal GDP number from the new series. Divide one by the other and proclaim 2.6% "growth." That is comparing apples with oranges.
𝗙𝗮𝗰𝘁: When GDP series are revised, historical numbers are re-estimated using the same methodology to ensure an apples-to-apples comparison. Such an ECON 101 error!
𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 #𝟮: Use nominal GDP arithmetic to challenge a real GDP growth rate of 7.8%, while ignoring double deflation, a globally accepted methodology that India now adopts, and the actual constant-price estimates.
𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 #𝟯: Treat routine revisions, based on improved data and methodology, as "manipulation." Historical estimates are revised precisely because new data arrive and better information becomes available.
𝘚𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘺, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘰𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 claim 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.
𝗘𝗿𝗿𝗼𝗿 #𝟰: Claim consumption growth was negative by committing the same errors, when official data show real private consumption grew 7.1%.
But why wouldn’t MOSPI or Finance Minister explain it? தெரிஞ்சா புரிஞ்சா தானே விவரமா சொல்ல முடியும். 🤦🏻♂️
None of the government representatives are willing to explain the impact of the Double Deflation method introduced this year to adjust GDP calculations for inflation. On paper, it may make the numbers closer to ground reality. But given the government’s track record—and its strangely evasive attitude whenever asked to clarify—it only fuels suspicion. I noticed business news anchors even released past GDP figures recalculated using this method. So why the hide‑and‑seek? Why not explain it in plain English? The silence makes it seem as if they believe the common man lacks the “super intelligence” reserved for the finance minister and her inner circle.
Professor, there’s one crucial piece you’re missing — the lived reality of the finance minister’s poor credibility and manipulative tactics. Her endless whataboutery about the past has stolen today’s moment, when the numbers should actually make us feel good. Don’t fault the consumer for the restaurant’s bad track record; the blame lies squarely with the restaurant’s management. Leaving aside the subject matter experts like yourself - the common man’s approach is don’t trust these govt guys - they are good in manipulating and narrative setting.
@saysatheesh போறதுக்கு முன்னாடி கொஞ்சம் India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement படிச்சுட்டு போக சொல்லுங்க.
More than two months after the top post at StartupTN fell vacant, the State’s startup ecosystem continues to wait for clarity on who will lead the organisation. Despite over 400 applications for the CEO’s post and the shortlisting of candidates, the selection process appears to have made little progress. Sources say three names have been finalised, but a decision is still awaited. The prolonged uncertainty is beginning to worry startups, who say the lack of a clear head and direction at StartupTN is affecting the ecosystem and raising questions over the government’s intent to strengthen the State’s startup sector.
Can someone explain the rationale for banning mobiles inside the temple? Where in the vedas or Upanishads it is proscribed?
Is it to prevent poor service or illegal activities from being recorded? Why would anyone fear being captured on camera, other than thieves?
I don’t have the handle of the concerned TN minister. Usually they are frauds - according to @CMOTamilnadu. But why would he also follow the footsteps of the frauds?
(By the way - இந்தம்மா காலைலே எப்போ எந்திருப்பாங்க!!!)
@yazhini_pm Vijay is like @realDonaldTrump. Just transactional. What works for Vijay has to be good for TN. As simple as that Save your emotions for next life.
@ShamikaRavi Can someone please explain the change in the GDP calculation methodology - Double Deflation method - to appreciate these fantastic numbers. Please give us the confidence to celebrate.
@latha_venkatesh Is this upward change because of the base year change only? What’s the impact of the Double Deflation method of GDP calculation on these revisions?
The Congress party — which ushered in the 1994 reforms — is now infested with communists masquerading as economists. They want to undo the good work done by PVNR and MMS. Their entire agenda seems aimed at pressuring the government to shut down and walk backwards instead of liberalizing the economy. These communists are a danger to Indian society. We have got to be wary of these pseudo‑intellectuals.
@pravchak@VigneshTvkCbe The incapability of the previous administration seems to be the bedrock of the current one. Does the noted economist have any real solutions, or is the contribution limited to scholastic observations alone?
