This is NOT Shaker Square. Last night, roughly 25 paramilitary and CPD vehicles and 60 personnel were stationed at the Square. No protests manifested and we do not anticipate the show of force will continue.
Note: An earlier version of this tweet attributed the police presence to a proprietor, but we now understand that this was coordinated in response to several things, including social media posts that indicated the Square would be a rally point for demonstrations.
We thank everyone for their concern and especially for your peace. The Square should always be a place where our community is able to come together in mutual existence and peaceful, if sometimes uncomfortable, dialogue.
100 years ago today 4/11/20 the Cleveland Interurban Railway opened as the Shaker Rapid known today as the Blue & Green lines @GCRTA 10 years after opening the Van Sweringen’s connected Shaker to @CLEPublicSquare @ the new #CLE Union Terminal in 1930 & operated the lines to 1935.

@hoots51 @Shaker_Square But this observation also has big equity implications and highlights a more generally problematic maintenance divide between properties North and South of the Square--sometimes within the same owner portfolios--that will have to be addressed through policy and partnership. 3/3
@hoots51 @Shaker_Square We are hopeful that in the (near?) future, a relatively simple operational structure (i.e. a BID or SID) would greatly improve the responsiveness and quality oversight of district snow clearance, parking amenities, programming, and security (to name a few). 2/3
Enjoyed a visit to Shaker Square this afternoon. I managed Booksellers (near Yours Truly) way back when and loved working on the Square. Great mix of people. @ThisIsSHSQ

In an effort to help riders with wayfinding, WMATA experimented with color coding the handrails on escalators at Fort Totten (a transfer station) to correspond with the platforms they lead to. #WayFinding#RiderExperience
