Senzo Mchunu attended a funeral in KZN with General Fannie Masemola on 28 December 2024 and said nothing about the PKTT disbandment.

General Fannie Masemola went on leave and only returned on 14 January 2025. By then Shadrack Sibiya had already drafted a letter to send to General Khumalo. Masemola refused to sign it twice.

Sibiya then signed the letter himself and sent it to General Khumalo.
The key players in the disbandment of the PKTT were Senzo Mchunu, Shadrack Sibiya, Brown Mogotsi and Cat Matlala.

Xola Nqola and Khusela Diko, both ANC members, believe that Senzo Mchunu did nothing wrong by disbanding the PKTT. They also see nothing wrong with that the letter was first shared with Cat Matlala and Brown Mogotsi even before the National Commissioner of Polige Fannie Masemola was aware of it.
