@HorrorGorl The way to get there with both parties is to demonstrate that our poor health outcomes are a national security issue. Which, frankly, they are.
@David_Charts2@RBReich They don't "have" $108 trillion.
They have assets.
And to pay your proposed tax, the IRS would have to seize-and-sell their assets.
@RBReich The idea that there's been an "upward redistribution of wealth" falsely presumes a limited supply of wealth.
There is not!
But public-funds-leeching-millionaires like @RBReich need you to think that rich people are taking money from you.
They are not!
@tessa18640@brontyman The middle class shrunk because:
1. More households move UP from the middle class than moved down.
2. Those that moved down are predominantly single-mother households, which have nearly double over the last 50 years.
@brontyman Since the term "trickle down" was first uttered, the middle class in the US has shrunk because more people UP from the middle class than moved down.
Oh, and those that moved down are predominantly single-mother households, which have increased dramatically since the 80's.
@RepEricBurlison There was a time that the US government knew nearly nothing about the individual citizen, but the individual citizen knew nearly everything about the government.
Let's get back to that.
@mcsquared34 You complain a lot about landlords, but where do you think people who can't afford to buy a house would live if there weren't people providing places they can rent?
@ennui365 When "harm other people" means "hurting their feelings", then the "harmed" people are not equipped for a free society in which people have the right to express their opinions.
@zellieimani Nearly no one says this. Your nearly certain to not live in poverty if only you:
- Graduate high school.
- Get and keep a job at the top of your skill level.
- Don't have kids outside marriage.
@pcoastfool @zellieimani @Himjamin777 For sure.
I'm not saying one can't get out of poverty having not accomplished all three (although the likelihood goes down considerably with each one). Rather, I'm saying that, if you do all three, you'll not likely live in poverty.
