@investing_law I’m a big fan of young people getting exposure to potential careers. Great if it happens. But the idea that large numbers of people can walk in to a para job for a year strikes me as unlikely. It’s also very different work.

@investing_law Seems backwards to me. An avg state schoool opens lots of doors at a fraction of the price. If you’re not 100% sure and have to pay yourself, that sounds much wiser than saddling yourself with top 20 debt and the need for big law life to pay it back.

@SMB_Attorney The art of being a great partner is mastering the “loose grip.” Oversee and keep your finger on the pulse of the client’s matter, while directing progress through associates. Client then gets their attorney of choice, but the production of a team. It’s hard.

@lawheroezV2 Changing software is always hard and benefits a user’s incumbent app. I wonder if they’re betting on that. If so, I think it will backfire. The current phase of adopters have been experimenting and building Shifting to Chat will be much easier than WordPerfect to Word era.

@cboyack I don’t know. There are a lot of contracts that you don’t sign and can’t negotiate. And to the extent a social contract exists, it is heavily designed by local customs and mores. One can often “walk away” by moving to a new community or even society.

@PatrickOjo_ I don’t see it the same way. Much like research, my time in app is a fraction of the time I spend working on a matter. AI provides some information, but reading, outlining, annotating, reading research materials, etc are all invisible to the log.

Somewhere a college is having a meeting about their bad decision to use AI to try to read graduate names. Hopefully someone asks “why did we think this was necessary or beneficial in the first place?” We could all benefit from that analysis as we decide how to use it.

@SMB_Attorney Eh. Think about the search engine race of the early 2000’s. We now have free email, office suite, phone, etc. And the paid services are incredibly cheap. The same is probably true here.
