No. The Russian Federation is not a communist country, and has not been one since the end of the Soviet Union.

The USSR was a one-party communist state under the Communist Party. It dissolved in December 1991. The Russian Federation that succeeded it adopted a new constitution in 1993 that rejected that system. Article 13 of the Constitution states that ideological diversity is recognized, that no ideology may be established as state or mandatory, and that political diversity and a multi-party system are fundamental. Private property and a market economy are also constitutionally protected, even though the state retains large stakes in energy, banking, and other strategic sectors.

In practice, Russia is usually described as an authoritarian or hybrid regime with a dominant party (United Russia), strong executive power, nationalism, and a mixed economy with heavy state influence—not as a communist state. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation still exists and wins some seats in parliament, but it is an opposition party, not the ruling one, and does not control the government or set official ideology.

Soviet symbols and selective nostalgia for Soviet power sometimes appear in official rhetoric or public life, but that is not the same as a communist political or economic system.
