@SilversteinNoah @coda_hq I am using Apple Shortcuts to dictate my voice or copy to clipboard and then send as a JSON and then use a Coda webhook to bring it into the doc. From there, it is parsing and using AI to populate columns as needed.

I recently had a call that rocked me.

By the end goosebumps ran down my arms & tears filled the corners of my eyes.

Here's the story (3 min read, but worth it).

Last week, I posted about 8 business ideas I could be convinced to build.

Within 48 hours I had received >1,000 DMs from entrepreneurs looking to partner up.

I scrolled through messages & one stood out to me.

It was from an entrepreneur—who many of you know—that's built up a crazy loyal following over the last 12 months.

He was interested in partnering on one of my ideas.

"Let's chat," I said.

What followed was truly remarkable.

We got on Zoom & I said "Tell me your story."

I had no idea what to expect.

He started with family, sharing how much they mean to him, and the love he has for his wife, 6-year-old son and 2-year-old daughter.

He's 32, lives outside LA, and became an entrepreneur out of pure necessity (more to come).

And he studied Biblical Studies undergrad with a Masters in Education. Not exactly the prototypical startup founder.

This led him to working as a Special Ed teacher, a job he loved & could do for the rest of his career.

But sometimes dreams take a backseat to reality.

12 months ago, this guy & his wife lived outside of San Francisco, and quickly realized that a teachers salary couldn't support a family of four.

Their apartment lease was up, so they had to move out & look for something within budget.

Things took a turn for the worst.

With their modest household income, no landlord would approve them for a lease.

A shitty situation turned into his worst nightmare, when the entrepreneur & his family had to move out without securing a new apartment.

He, his wife, his 6-year-old son & 2-year-old daughter spent a month living out of their car as they tried to bounce back.

What happened next broke this man & left me gutted as I imagined the moment.

One day, while in the car, the little boy turned to his dad and said:

"Daddy, when are we going home?"

The man had no idea & didn't want to lie to his son.

"I don't know."

The boy started crying. The father's heart was shattered into a million pieces.

He was trapped.

He felt so fulfilled & called to his work as a Special Ed teacher.

But in an effort to help thousands of young boys & girls who needed it, he wasn't able to support those closest to him. His family.

So in that moment he made a choice. Probably the hardest choice he's ever had to make.

He hit pause on his teaching career & got laser-focused on one simple goal:

"Make sure my family never needs to worry about money again."

The teacher-turned-entrepreneur had never dreamed of starting a business, but it was about survival now.

So he thought about what sellable skills he had acquired as a teacher.

His answer: automation.

Some quick context:

Earlier in our conversation, he had explained to me that Special Ed teachers have the highest rate of burnout of any job in America.

This is due to the amount of government-mandated paperwork that must be filled out for each student.

He promised himself that he wouldn't suffer the same fate as his peers.

So he spent any free minute he had teaching himself to code & building automated systems to delegate monotonous paperwork to a host of digital tools.

After a few months, he had built an operating system for teachers that could eliminate 10-15 hours per week worth of busywork.

Which gave him the thought:

"Maybe I can do this for others."

With his ass against the wall, the forced entrepreneur started creating workflow automations for clients at $20/hr.

Successful early testimonials & building an audience on social led to huge clients ranging from Robinhood to Mr. Beast.

In 12 months, he went from homeless & directionless, to building a successful workflow consulting agency.

And today, with just 1 FT employee, the business will do $550,000 this year.

He’ll make 4x his Special Ed salary & most importantly...the newfound entrepreneur can give his son the home he so longed for.
