As the #AFCON2025 final approaches this Sunday, we continue to support Morocco 🇲🇦 in ensuring a secure tournament, through an INTERPOL Joint Task Force. ⚽
Officers from Project Stadia and our Command and Coordination Centre have been working from the African Police Cooperation Centre in Salé to facilitate and coordinate access to the full range of INTERPOL’s expertise and policing capabilities.
Today, the majority of cases handled by local police have some kind of international aspect or link.
For example, in 2024, more than 70 per cent of 🇩🇪Germany’s Bundeskriminalamt’s (BKA) organized crime investigations were transnational.
It’s these kind of statistics which make my engagement with government ministers and police chiefs around the world so important – for me to understand the challenges they face, and to identify areas where INTERPOL can assist.
With this in mind I had very constructive meetings with Germany’s State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Interior Hans-Georg Engelke and BKA President Holger Münch to discuss shared priorities in combating evolving threats, especially cybercrime, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
Germany is one of INTERPOL’s strongest supporters, not just in financial terms, but also through sending highly qualified staff to work at our General Secretariat headquarters, and to participate in our governance bodies such as the Executive Committee.
It is this type of engagement which makes INTERPOL stronger – which in turn makes our global network more effective.
My thanks to EC Delegate for Europe Thorsten Kunst, and all the team in Germany for a warm welcome and open discussion.
Rapid technological innovations combined with the transformative impact of AI, the @wef#cybersecurity26 report underlines the fact that no one, including law enforcement can fight cybercrime in isolation.
Protecting communities depends on true multi-stakeholder cooperation.
Only together can we stay ahead of criminals and uphold safety, rights and resilience for a secure digital future.
Looking forward to discussing this and other pressing issues at #WEF26 next week.
A single moment can shape a lifetime of service.
Police officers from around the world share the experiences that inspired them to serve. In the coming weeks, their stories will continue, reflecting what policing means to them.

🚨 International fugitive hunt leads to 85 arrests
An international fugitive operation coordinated by INTERPOL across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Europe has resulted in the arrest of 85 persons wanted internationally under INTERPOL Red Notices, and in the location of 18 others, with additional arrests expected as investigations continue.
