Tired and desperate after traveling before the break of dawn to President Mnangagwa’s election rally in Shurugwi, these Zimbabweans can’t find buses to take them back home.

They all say that they don’t have money to pay for public transportation, not even a penny in their pockets, but they have to go home.

President Mnangagwa’s rallies have been filled with bussed citizens from across the country to give a false semblance of a popular man.

Many citizens are coerced to go using these buses provided by Mnangagwa, but after the rallies some miss their designated buses.

Many go to Mnangagwa's rallies for their own protection, many also do so because of the free food that Mnangagwa is using to entice locals where he is addressing his rallies.

But for now, these desperate citizens have to make a plan, they have to go home, how will they get home when they have missed their designated buses?

Walking is the only viable solution unless a Good Samaritan helps them, ZANUPF is not known for being a home of good samaritans.

These folks were needed for the rally, the rally is over.
The main actor is gone.

Multitudes of Zimbabweans walking away as President Mnangagwa was speaking yesterday.

This video confirms what we have always known, these rural people who are bussed to these rallies go there for the free food being dished out.

After eating chicken and chips, they walk away and wait in the buses.
They have probably heard this speech more than 10 times since they are bussed from rally to rally.

Coming to the speech, how do you celebrate generation electricity to rural people without electricity?

Dear Election observers,

This is a ZANUPF car deploying police officers around polling stations in Masvingo province.

ZANUPF is the ruling party, it is also a competitor in this election.

It is thoroughly unethical for the police service to use party political cars belonging to the ruling party especially in deployment of police officers for election purposes.

Esteemed election observers, the same police force has been accused of self evident bias against the opposition and favouring ZANUPF.

How can an election be free, fair and credible when the police force is working with one of the election competitors?

How can opposition supporters feel safe around police officers or be able to report violence perpetrated by the ruling party thugs when the same police force uses cars belonging to the perpetrators?

It is like going into a court where the judge was driving a car belonging to the person who you are suing? It is a sick joke.

Good day CITIZENS. As promised last week, today I am reviewing the manifesto of @ZANUPF_Official, i.e., the works of @ZANUPF_Official since 1980. At independence, Zimbabwe adopted a strong economy whose currency was stronger than the USD, i.e., Z$1 = US$1.5.

The @ZANUPF_Official adopted an economy with massive protection which include exchange controls, trade protectionism and a planned economy. Import controls on capital goods, in particular, restricted growth. Likewise, social spending on health and education resulted in an unsustainable budget deficit and rising debt. As a result, @ZANUPF_Official bowed to pressure from within its party, @czionline & the Bretton Woods Institutions to liberalise the economy under the Economic Structural Adjustment Programme (ESAP). The main focus of ESAP was to liberalise trade, liberalise financial markets, exchange controls and the entire economy as well as cutting on social spending.

In implementing ESAP, ESAP coincided with the devastating 1992 drought. To make matters worse, the @ZANUPF_Official didn't logically sequenced the implementation of ESAP as it was hurriedly implemented in 2.5 years instead of 5 years, suffered from the absence of strong institutions and complementary policies such as industrial, trade and agricultural policies. Resultantly, the results of ESAP were a DISASTER characterised by exchange rate volatility, soaring interest rates, rising imports reaching 20% on an annual basis, trade deficit rising to 20% of GDP, economic contraction and an emergence of an informal sector.

In 1997, the GOZ dished out unbudgeted packages to war veterans which resulted in the crash of the ZWL, i.e., the black Friday of 14 November 1997. To make matters worse, the GOZ participated in the DRC war which drained the country's forex reserves. Up to now, the country has not realised any economic gain from the DRC war.

Early 2000, the GOZ implemented a chaotic land reform which disrupted robust agricultural value chains and rendered the country to a basket case. The land reform could have been done in an orderly manner if the GOZ introduced land tax on land holding in the same way the PAYE is implemented. This could have pushed the white commercial farmers to release the excess land whilst continuing farming on the remaining land.

To make matters worse, the @ZANUPF_Official unleashed violence & various forms of human rights abuse on the opposition.

The combination of human rights abuse, rising debt and land reform, saw the country being slapped with sanctions (see ZIDERA).

Between 1998 - 2008, the lost decade, the combination of international isolation, recklessness on the part of @ZANUPF_Official through printing of money, rampant abuse of human rights in an unprecedented manner (ref short or long sleeve of the 2008), corruption, etc, the economy contracted by 52%, inflation picked to 89.7 sextillion % (89,700,000,000,000,000,000,000%). As a result, the economy crashed. We lost our currency, pensions, savings and jobs.

Between 2009 - 2013, we were governed by a GNU and the economy performed exceptionally very averaging 10% per year.

Between 2013 - 2018 @ZANUPF_Official took charge of the economy and run incessant budget deficits & electronic printing of ZWL which saw the birth of the RTGS & rising domestic debt from 0 to US$9.4 billion.

The period 2018 to date saw @MthuliNcube putting the nail on the coffin. He assumed office when annual inflation in July 2018 was 4.3% & drove it to 837.5% in July 2020 (after suspending inflation estimation in July 2019) & 1200% as of 13 June 2023 (ref @steve_hanke). He also drove national debt from US$10 billion in 2018 to US$18.73 billion to date. Our budget short from $8.1 billion in 2018 to $4.5 trillion - a record of 56,000%. Health & education is dead. Again, we lost our pensions, savings & jobs.

Between 2018 -2023, population in extreme poverty rose from 29% to 49% (see ZIMSTAT).

My post yesterday on the CCC manifesto yesterday continues to receive overwhelming responses from fellow Citizens. I will respond to few questions and would like to stick to issues not personal attacks as @Pachisolife do. Key questions I will address here are: how will the CCC fund free health & education? How the CCC attain US$100 billion in 10 years? How will the CCC deal with hyperinflation?

On sources of funds for free health and education, the manifesto is very clear that the CCC will stop illicit financial flows amounting to US$1.8 billion and close domestic leakages/corruption costing the economy US$1 billion. In his presentation in various rallies @nelsonchamisa eloquently explained that the savings from corruption will be directed towards social services such as health and education. However, it is an open secret that our failure to adequately fund health and education is an issue of misplaced priorities. How do you explain a situation where private surgeries owned by an individual medical practitioner has basic tools such as x-ray, anaesthetic machine, ECG, analyzer, etc but a major referral hospital has no panado???

Is the US$100 billion economy achievable? To set the record straight and correct my fellow citizen @Pachisolife who is arguing that the US$100 billion is premised on the assumption of an average growth rate of 10% per annum. You are wrong @Pachisolife. The expected growth rates are 10% in 2024, 14% consecutively for the years 2025, 2026, 2027 and later 12% consecutively for the years 2028 to 2032 and then 10% 2033 and 2034. Read the manifesto carefully. Now the question is this achievable? The answer is yes from two fronts: first, we are coming from lower base of 3% growth hence we can attain these growth rates. During GNU, we attained 19.7% in 2010, 14.2% in 2011 & 15.8% in 2012. These are the facts! Second, the US$100 billion economy will be largely driven by agriculture (US$8.6 billion), mining (US$13 billion), manufacturing (US$12 billion), wholesale & retail (US$17.9 billion), ICTs (US$7.2 billion), financial & insurance (US$5.8 billion) and education (US$4 billion). If one look at these estimates sector by sector with an economic eye and with clear understanding of our economy, before we consider any modelling, you will agree with me that these estimates are achievable and in some sectors as in agriculture and manufacturing the chances of exceeding set targets are high.

On the manifesto lacking measures to address hyperinflation, the manifesto outlined that the CCC government will dollarise the economy as a temporary measure as it build the right condition for the return of the ZWL. This will kill inflation ipapo ipapo. SIMPLE.

I want to end by advising colleagues from @ZANUPF_Official who are attacking me for commenting on the CCC manifesto. Please be advised I comment on any matter I see worth commenting on without any apology. However, I also want to say that next week I will be commenting on how @ZANUPF_Official government performed since independence and most importantly in the last 5 years. Please warm your chairs because I will be out to prove that I am not a fake professor of economics. My analysis will be grounded with hard stats and facts - no emotions. This is my promise.

In the meantime, please expect more comments on CCC manifesto because ndiyo irikupisa!
