A friend and I were discussing this the other day and it got me thinking. How can we do this better?
ISSUE: As farms businesses grow in size and complexity, one of the biggest problems we are faced with is how to manage more land, more people and more moving parts.

@colin_connop @farmagro1 The closest I have seen is @sapientech1 with their Koolstock app.
You can look animals up in paddock and take notes on the animal, but it cannot 'scan' a tag.
@ClynelishFarm @farmagro1 Great advice, we have been Shearwell since 2011, good service and good retention rates. We also dip tag tips in hibitane disinfectant prior to application for peace of mind. A simple process for any wraparound tags to prevent infections.
@CasFarmerCD@turbosteve21@walter121979 Either would be my first guess given their current popularity. Both are wooly pod varieties which have a purple flower similar to above. Rm4 supersedes Capello. There are other wooly pod varieties with similar flowers though.
Know of anyone who is interested in a career in the shearing industry? Or has started out and wants to refine their skills? The ASHEEP Shearing School runs from 5th - 16th July 2021 in the Esperance region. Email [email protected] for details.

@Tedthekelpie Lanotec pre is ok. It will definitely look average from dust but if applied correctly, will wash off (using lanotec degreaser) like new. Best product I've used to maintain our seeding equipment. Up there for price, but worth it!
@EmCharlotteAnn John Milton of INDEPENDENT LAB SERVICES can cover all of that. Any form of plant matter at any growth stage. We've had vetch hay, barley and wheat straw and different grains tested for digestability and ME through his team.
If you are passionate about wool, and want to develop your skills, this course is for you! Breeding Leadership is for anyone 25 to 35 years old working in agriculture with a focus on the wool industry. https://t.co/yDCvPeJC70. Applications close 5pm Wednesday, 30 October 2019.
@Tomcurnow10 @DefrenneSam Steve pretty much summed it up. Local market is likely to be flooded given the broad scale of the event. There may be a market interstate, but freight, price and any potential weed burden could hinder sales. It all comes down to costs in the end, for either market..
@DefrenneSam @Tomcurnow10 After all that you would still need to find a buyer to, and unless there is a decent rain event to fill dams. Water will be an issue before feed this summer.
@DefrenneSam @Tomcurnow10 I think we paid between $220 and $280 a tonne this last summer, depending on the tested quality. That was also in a dry season where hay was in demand, but it gives you a starting point. I'd think that lentils, like beans would be best in 8x4x3 squares for easy transport.
New extended Esperance ram selling complex will be opened today at 12, thanks to the co-operation of the Esperance Show Society and the Esperance Ram Breeders.
It's going to be a cracker day for a ram sale!
The "4x4x4 test". It's even more important now:
4 wks holidays, off the farm,
4 days training,
4 new initiatives.
The most important asset on your farm is you. Look after it.
