If you as a hs student could have designed the ideal reading and writing class focused on a particular genre, theme, or topic, what class would you have created? @ncte
If, instead, we welcome them back as whole human beings, as people who have had a life-defining experience and survived it with resilience and verve, and invite them to inquire with us about topics of mutual interest, we are much more likely to sustain their energy and attention.
And we wonder why so many high schoolers stop reading...
(And no, I didn’t buy any of these. I Sparknoted my way through this book once and that was enough.)
