people need to go back to history, the first and real traders were commodity traders, merchants that used to get funding from the government/banks/feudal lords to buy spices overseas and so on and so forth. these were the prople who βtradedβ as a profession. This is risk management across a supply chain, relationships and understanding the game in which they are playing. technical pattern trading and the influencer/social media hype made for a perfect shit storm. People that claim themselves as βday tradersβ that havent been through institutions or with real professionals dont know what trading is, they can read a few books and talk shit but always chasing the dopamine rush or a casino-like emotion from doing a winning trade. a lot of the people in the comments (or bots) are lost.
Traders by profession are risk managers. position sizing, hedging, drawdown limits, counterparty exposure. Not P&L chasing.
Their are verticals of trading like quant trading, prop trading in firms, market making but these are different setups and objectives.
Ive always wanted to be a trader, i fell into the same thing early in life (before i even got into coffee). This is real awareness, good for you for sharing. People can say shit about it but they dont understand about the real education, experience, insight and knowledge only shared by real professionals in the industry to be prepared for when shit hits the fan, however it may hit. be safe
