Faculty of Science PhD students, apply now to be a part of the 2025 OpenThink cohort!

Congratulations Dr. Campbell! Particularly note-worthy is that Jacob started his graduate work in the thick of stay-at-home and still squarely attained his PhD within the 4-year target window of the Thompson group.  So proud!

Commonwealth Chemistry aims to inspire, celebrate and elevate the role and practice of chemical sciences for the benefit of Commonwealth nations. At present, Chemical Societies of twenty six countries are members of the Federation. It was a pleasure to host the @FedCommChem Executive Board Meeting 2024 at @IITKanpur. Finance Committee deliberations, chemical sciences workshop and EB meetings ended with the final session in Agra and a memorable trip to the Taj Mahal. Look forward to 3rd Commonwealth Chemistry Congress in @StellenboschUni in 2025 with several speakers from India. Be part of 3rd CCC and join the movement.

@Sandeep_1966 @FedCommChem @RoySocChem On behalf of my fell Executive Board members, a big thanks to you @Sandeep_1966 and your colleagues for hosting us at @IITKanpur and for taking us to @TajMahal - what a treat! Great work and lots of good ideas to move the @FedCommChem forward!

(2/2) Manuscript creation was ably supported by Fran and Jim as we re-established operations in the lab, was side-lined amidst reprioritization, and finally taken over the finish line with Jacob at the helm.  Thank-you to each of you!  So proud!!!

[Thompson Group @ThompsonLabDal]

(1/2) Phew, one of our longest projects appears in print today!  Started in 2020 by Michael as we grappled with quite how to do synthetic chemistry research from our homes.  https://t.co/sHQhcolks5

[Thompson Group @ThompsonLabDal]

Yay for teamwork! Trainees & collaborators coming together on this project – & so much more to do! So proud of Adil and Em, and all those who supported them.

(1/3) WOW!   We were in awe at the performance given by Harshita Pasumarthi and Meera Baskaran at the first ever Bharatanatyam Arangetram in Halifax. Harshita worked in the Thompson labs last summer, courtesy of a John Dingle Science Communication Internship.

[Thompson Group @ThompsonLabDal]

(2/3) We knew then she had immense communication skills when we saw the poster and social media content she created to highlight research and learning in our department – her work adorns the Chemistry Building walls.  Her communication skills extend to performance too!

Congratulations to all the winners of DalChem Students Awards for 24/25 Academic Year! @DalScience

[Thompson Group @ThompsonLabDal]

Emily wins again! The Douglas E. Ryan Prize is awarded for Excellence in Graduate Studies in Chemistry, based on student's work in the graduate program: class work, research, preliminary oral examinations & demonstrating duties
Emily exemplifies all these things. Congrats Emily!

[Thompson Group @ThompsonLabDal]

We’re so proud to work with Emily Brown.  As part of her PhD candidacy, Emily recently gave an award-winning seminar on atropisomerism, a peer-reviewed award decided upon by members of the Chemistry Graduate Student Society.  Congrats Emily!
