A three-year pilot to address a teacher shortage is being trialled at six schools on NSW North Coast, including Bishop Druitt College.
The North Coast pilot, led by AISNSW in collaboration with SCU, brings Trainees and Mentor Teachers together in a teaching hub mode at BDC.
@Lauren02484342 Talking about it is not enough but it’s a step in the right direction. Adding your support (& not talking over those who are oppressed) to fighting injustice needs to go beyond words and into actions - from everyday interactions on the street through to school curriculum.
@Benjami49687352 Hi Ben! Fantastic to see we are both working towards very similar projects! When planning for your garden, @GrowIndigi and @RBGSydney are great community assets, with a wealth of ideas for creating sustainable, innovative gardens that S will love!
@MissSha55479033 Innovation at its finest! As a S I was nervous of 'doing it wrong' in PA, this use of #ICT would encourage all S to participate without the worry of missing important information on how to correctly do an activity.
@MissSha55479033 I would discuss our healthy eating choices during Crunch & Sip time or perhaps casually discuss it with S while on lunch duty. This guide could be implemented in a hands-on game where students stick #ColesMinis and cut-out foods onto plants.
@MissSha55479033 Wow, what an excellent, engaging way to teach children about Growth Mindsets! While growth mindset visuals are often found in the classroom, reinforcing resilience in a range of different settings, like outside the classroom is exhilarating!
@MissSha55479033 If you haven't already read it, the Microsoft Partners in Learning 21CLD Learning Activity Rubrics, are a brilliant way to ensure we scaffold our teaching to address the C21 skills effectectively.

Often students disregard themselves as the creative personality type, so how do YOU encourage them to break the mould?

@MissHubbardAU Silly me, I didn't realise I forgot to link the resource! The ISBN is 1936123096 and the title is Educating for Global Competence: Preparing Our Youth to Engage the World.

Resource alert! (Mansilla & Jackson, 2011)
From checklists to lived-examples, this resource is excellent for educating for global competence. My favourite example engaged students in growing vegetables for their local foodbank and addressing #SDG12.
#UoNTeach#Educ4750
@MissHubbardAU Yes, excellent idea! I didn't consider it before, however it would be an excellent to use as a scaffold in encouraging self-regulated learning & establishing S responsibility of the project.
While a little dated, this resource is fantastic for planning a school garden. It simplistically provides relevant information about the skills, resources & job allocations needed as well as the value of the #PBL for S and the broader community. #EDUC4750

@MissHubbardAU I believe it also means finding the most valuable resources to effectively increase sustainability. There are many great sustainability options; have you heard of #Wickingboxes? This is one example of a planter box that helps reduce water wastage.
@MissHubbardAU@thesubpod As a visual learner I love the multimodality! The resource would be great for St.3 but could also be repurposed by T's to make it appropriate for a younger audience. I would link this resource to my #PBLGarden when S are exploring the factors that affect the food cycle.
@Dawe4Peter@Miss_KWoods @BrendenMoore29 @pettitt_phil Very glad to hear that! Is there a way to keep track of your scheduled events or community gardening days?
@Miss_KWoods As I know we are working on similar projects, I suggest you follow @Dawe4Peter as he is very engaged w/the development of community garden spaces. This is my favourite post as it shows the design ideas S can create for the garden + a self-watering bed.
#EDUC4750
Earlier in the term we assisted #HeckenbergPS with their goanna shaped #Indigenous garden and today we set up some #wickingbeds - the community will set up two more & I’ll return when both wicking and #bushtucker gardens provide the ingredients for a good feed 😁🌱
I’m including #IndigiGrow in my #EDUC4740#SDG12 garden assignment. They are a valuable asset with a wealth of knowledge about native plant use, sustainable living and Aboriginal cultural knowledge.
If the #PBL went ahead, I’d buy the plants from them too!

@DrucillaTemple1 Exactly Drucilla! That is why I have researched my local AECG's and LALC for my sustainable project. For your interest, I have noticed that local botanical gardens and nurseries are also providing a range educational programs for sustainability and traditional plant use.
@Dawe4Peter@Miss_KWoods @BrendenMoore29 @pettitt_phil Hi Peter! Unfortunately for now they’re just University assignments, however once I am out teaching I will be sure to contact you regarding your work. I’ve been fascinated to see just how far reaching your projects are!
This link is very similar to the microsoft document, but it explains RWPS explicitly and provides helpful indicators of what learning is/is not an example of RWPS. I hope this may help your research :) https://t.co/Hd11VxHPX7
