Christmas is coming rapidly to us all, especially at Thorndown. We have started our Christmas celebrations by decorating our classroom doors. Here are a few examples;

Today we took part in St Ives CalmTown Meet the Street experience. The Year 6 children wrote to our neighbours around the perimeter of the school to invite them in for a school tour and a cup of tea. Thank you to everyone who came. We loved showing you Thorndown!

We now need to name our Mini Moo. She will be on display at both parents evenings - we ask for a donation of £1 as this will pay for any paint we need to decorate the Mini Moo for the Cows About Cambridge Arts Walk. The name will be on the platform the cows will stand on.

We are lucky to be part of the Cows About Cambridge Art Project this year. We will be decorating a Mini moo to join the trail. It arrived on Friday and some children in Y1 couldn’t wait to get their hands on it. Look out for more information to come! #cowsaboutcambridge

On Thursday, Lisa Taylor, from MundiPharma, dissected lambs eyes with our Year 3 children. The children learnt about the structure of an eye and why we have a blind spot. Our pupils found it fascinating! @scienceambass @stemlearninguk

Today we have been holding our Annual Sports Day. #Cambsschools

This morning, some of our Year 3 pupils were practically investigating larger measurements on the playground.

Today, we welcomed lots of Grandparents into school to prepare our allotment for the growing session ahead. All the children and staff at Thorndown thank you all for your help and time. The children will start planting in our allotment after the Easter holidays.

Year 5 loved meeting Jo Cotterill at yesterday's Big Read and Write event. They are all inspired and cannot wait to start showing their empathy skills when writing! #bigreadandwrite2018

As part of the Spring Term Year 1 topic ‘Let’s Play’, children have been looking at a wide range of toys from the past and parents were invited to take a look at the Toy Museum created by the children.

We had another successful Open Classroom in Years 1 and 2 this morning looking at how children write. It was wonderful to see so many of you and we had such great feedback. Thank you

Yesterday, Lisa Taylor, from MundiPharma, came to give a Science workshop on 'Changes of State'. The children made and ate ice-cream! Lucky things! @scienceambass @stemlearninguk

Our school choir is performing today at the O2 as part of
the Young Voices concerts. The choir will be singing with over 5000 children to
family and friends. What an experience!
