Rat

Quietly queer. Agender. Probably not really a rat. Persons and events described herein are fictional and bear no relation to reality. Views are mine, all mine.

One of the most widely held beliefs about men and women is that since the beginning of time

Males hunt and females gather

Our early ancestors with big brains, tools & a lust for violence, bringing home the meat whilst women waited at home

The original nuclear family

@the_tweedy This is the sweetest thread and I wish you both well. I feel like this is how to do relationships with respect, communication and lots of heart. Well done to both of you.

If you’re a parliamentary nerd you might like to look at the adjournment part of the Aust Senate dynamic red today……https://t.co/S1OHs4iE8j @AmyRemeikis

QANTAS ARE NOT GOING TO FIX MY #WHEELCHAIR AFTER THEY BROKE IT

They don’t accept liability for “minor” damage.

How is a damaged brake minor?!?!?! I cannot safely use it

Absolutely disgusting @Qantas

How can you discriminate against #disabled people like this?

[professional hog groomer @bidetmarxman]

There is a curious phenomenon that results from the relatively brief window of time a single human lifetime provides: we perceive the current state of the natural world as “normal”.

This is known as the Shifting Baseline Syndrome. 🧵

Don’t be a snob about reading. The best reason to read anything is because of the joy it brings. Books were made to shock and enchant and delight. They’re just about the only magic we have left in a world that is starved for wonder.

🧵When I told my story of sexual abuse in politics in 2019, no political leaders acknowledged it. I was erased and gaslit as a woman of colour.

I complained at the time I was abused (2014-15), in 2018, 2019, and 2021. I fought for years to be seen today.

[Rat @ThoughtfulRat]

@AmyRemeikis just a heads up - you keep saying parliament will sit on 5 Oct on the blog; it’s actually 6 Oct.

[Trish Khoo @hogfish]

My brother and I were trying to explain to his fiancee what an Eisteddfod is.

"When we were kids, our parents made us go into competitions where we had to stand on a big stage and read a poem and afterwards some adult would tell us how shit we were at reading poems"

@andrewwhiteau Quality content on twitter for once

[Eddy Jokovich @EddyJokovich]

Just Nine and News Corp outlets in “what the papers are saying”. How about Saturday Paper, New Daily, Meanjin, etc. What are they saying? If only @InsidersABC could open their eyes, even just slightly. #insiders

[Rat @ThoughtfulRat]

Alright, you can all look again now. :P
