For years, I have been fascinated by how little most people, even Africans, know about the continent’s pre-colonial past. Our history is often told in fragments. Usually, you have a few names, a few dates, and then a long silence until colonisation begins.
Beyond the Boom: How Nigeria Can Convert $10 Billion of ‘Hot Money’ Into Lasting Wealth - OpEd
Nigeria's $10.37 billion capital inflow in Q1 2026 is a powerful vote of confidence in the country's reform agenda, but is it sustainable? In this thought-provoking analysis, Tosin Adeoti (@Thowsyne) argues that beneath the headline figures lies a critical vulnerability: over 95% of inflows are foreign portfolio investments (FPIs), commonly known as "hot money,” that can exit as quickly as they arrive.
Drawing lessons from Egypt's recent economic experience, the article warns that financial liquidity alone cannot guarantee long-term prosperity. Instead, Nigeria must seize this moment to convert short-term capital flows into lasting productive investments through infrastructure, manufacturing, digital innovation, energy reform, and regulatory certainty.

i'm not satoshi, but I was early in laser focus on the positive societal implications of cryptography, online privacy and electronic cash, hence my ~1992 onwards active interest in applied research on ecash, privacy tech on cypherpunks list which led to hashcash and other ideas.
This is false. West Africa has been inhabited by humans for an extremely long time. At least over 150k years ago. In fact, humans evolved in Africa and have lived in many African environments, including forests, savannahs, deserts, and coasts.
People are not really aware - but West Africa is NOT a natural habitat of human beings. It is extremely unfriendly to human habitation, and was only inhabited relatively recently. Humans are forest edge animals, we do not naturally live in the forest. That's why we always clear the forest and try to recreate our natural habitat.
There is a deep irony here - LKY was right about what he saw in Nigeria but he picked the wrong example. Festus Okotie-Eboh’s reputation has suffered so much damage partly because of his flamboyance, partly because of LKY’s comments.
In reality he was an incredibly hardworking and intelligent minister. He was far above his contemporaries in ability and he absolutely got stuff done.
Ok, he did collect 10%, but by today’s standards and everything that has come after him, that’s a bargain!

Look at the 3 boys from Evergreen school Enugu that topped the Junior Category in South East Maths Olympiad Grand Finale.
They have finished engineering maths back to back, finished lacombe back to back, also finished German maths syllabus.
They fear nothing in mathematics.
@BitcoinUndisc@TravisC77777777 Your result has been tainted by previous conversations. Here's mine. He basically gave for or against and decided he would "probably be a committed agnostic — genuinely uncertain, epistemically humble, deeply curious."
Maestro @nntaleb, thank you for always standing up with principle against these people.
Didn't expect to find your name in any of the DOJ Epstein files. Of course, you were in the "DECLINED" list to the whatever meeting Epstein took part of.

Everyone is asking why the @NGSuperEagles players did not receive their #AFCON2025 🥉 medals in #Maroc. Here is the answer from @thenff President @IbrahimMusaGus1, who just spoke to me a few minutes ago:
“The players could not wait to receive their medals on Sunday. Their clubs were already after them to come back after Saturday’s game. I have the medals in my possession. And this is the case for #Egypt too, not just us. Had the medal ceremony taken place on the day of the match, they would have had the medals,” Gusau said.
Dear followers, please see my article on A Unified Theory Trump
Both Trump’s domestic and foreign policies can be best understood as an attempt to build an imperial presidency by elevating executive power and destroying constraining institutions and norms. https://t.co/efRY65XuKY

They leave them because they are "tired". Most of them don't own the Koropes. They will just abandon it and appear next day driving another one.
- Arrest them? how many do you want to arrest? Max 24 hours they are out.
- Seize Drivers License? What drivers license. Most don't have.
Law enforcement is basically tired of them because they are irredeemable.
