The world's tallest thermometer in Baker, CA is for sale for just $1.85 million.
Fun fact: it's 134-foot height commemorates the record-breaking 134°F temperature recorded in Death Valley back in 1913.
Os Trapalhões na Guerra dos Planetas (aka Brazilian Star Wars), 1978.
Most people know about the Italian Star Wars knock-offs: Star Crash, Star Odyssey and The Humanoid. But Brazil got in on the act too and I think it's rather a good effort.
Os Trapalhões was a Brazilain comedy show which also branched out into film making. It ran for 22 years, first on Rede Tupi and later on TV Globo. "War of the Planets" was the first of their movies to feature the classic line-up of Didi , Dedé , Mussum and Zacarias.
It's a comedy of course, a little bit slow paced, but a splendid mix of disco, drama and slapstick. There's a bit of Telenovela about it, which is always a good sign, and Not Darth Vader is suitably impressive.
I think it's better than Turkish Star Wars (Dünyayı Kurtaran Adam) which 'borrowed' many scenes from the George Lucas original, but is in essence Flash Gordon meets John Carter with jujitsu. At least Os Trapalhões kept closer to the spirit of the original!
@Schwarzenegger the pure 90’s power that this picture exudes is absolutely mind-boggling. You could probably make an entire @netflix series about this single meeting.
