I am on Éderson watch for the foreseeable future — links look strong now and want to have a deeper dive into his game. Will be making some content on him if these links continue to solidify.
A massive improvement on last season.
Albeit with no Europe and cups, 71pts and 3rd place is a decent PL season from us. Huge summer now to recruit well and support Carrick for the start of next season.
Now he’s here for next season, back him.
3 mids, left-winger and left-back are the main priorities. Ideally a Zirkzee replacement and a centre-back as our experienced CBs are injury prone. Likely 4/5 of those boxes will be ticked, guess it’ll be 2 mids and 2/3 other positions.
@WakoCD_ More about managing a camp, keeping players happy, finding balance and playing players to their strengths. Especially given the heat out in the states, you just know the pace of the game won’t be as high as we see domestically. Maguire is literally perfect for this tournament.
After many months of being quite inactive here, I’m back involved with football work and have more time to dedicate to it. Planning a few thread ideas already, but is there anything in particular you’d like to see on United this summer? Hoping to do some 2024-esque threads.
@NDXSH_ They will need to evolve to continue winning, as well. The way the squad is currently built means they’ll need quite a sizeable pivot from the current strategy, plus the change in rules we’re expecting means they’ll have to find new methods for scoring a big % of their goals.
Alongside all this tonight, there’s something sweet about seeing City go out with a whimper in the PL. Lots of work to do for Pep’s successor to turn that City group into title winners. Feels like they’ve lost the strong nucleus they once had, both mentally and physically.
I don’t believe the strategy will work consistently moving forward, especially with the change of rules that we’re apparently going to see next season, so we’ll see how they change. United need to take advantage because the ceiling needed to win has been so much lower this year.
Mikel Arteta built a team to not just compete with, but beat City. He had to re-brand and change the strategy to win, and it’s finally paid off. Despite the fact that it’s been horrible to watch, and there’s been a big amount of fortune along the way, they’ve done it.
It’s a foul, but Arsenal players have been fouling on set piece after set piece and they haven’t been punished this season. It’s just meant to be I guess, it’s the worst title winning team in my lifetime. Next season this won’t be allowed to happen again when the rules change.
@UnitedMug Sorry for late reply. Think he’s still rash with both the consistency of his final output and 1vs1 defending, would rather sign Lewis Hall who can provide solutions in smaller spaces as well. Think we already have Dorgu who can provide the threat in bigger spaces.
PSG or Bayern, we are rooting for you. Hoping it’s PSG because I don’t trust the Bayern team as much, but as long as it isn’t these lot. The clearest of pens not given tonight, last week Atleti had the chances in 2nd half to score a 2rd or 3rd. Let down hugely by quality.
@CFC_Enthusiast Atleti actually created the better opportunities over both legs. Chances warranted a 1/2 goal win last week, and Simeone and Sorloth had huge chances tonight, plus a clear pen and possible red card completely dismissed. Oh well.
If Manchester United somehow one day can get João Pedro out of Chelsea, I would be absolutely over the moon. One of my favourite players in world football at this moment in time. What an amazing season he’s had surrounded by underperforming players in an underperforming team.
@fuadyabz23 All derived from the setup, it’s not designed to take the game to teams. We’re just gonna get dragged down with the rest of the average teams in this league, got some good players but lots aren’t platformed to their strengths.
Could be a push for UCL with better approach.
Yep - 9 PL teams in Europe gives United a huge opportunity. The players are good enough to challenge for UCL football in the current state of the league, IF platformed well.
Big IF though — many aren’t being platformed well at the moment but our quality is shining through.
