Threads, War and Conflict presents textile stories of violence and resistance, exploring issues of gendered violence, disappearance, displacement and migration.
The completion of the textile book was supported by @mccallmacbain Teaching Excellence Award and St Andrews Entrepreneurial Education Fund @UStAResearch, and was stitched in its current form by @DeborahStockda5

Lorina Bulwer, needle-worker incarcerated in the 'lunatic ward' of a UK Workhouse in 1894, created large scale samplers as a way to voice her experience, highlighting her protests at her treatment and grim conditions #womensart
This is such a great piece of embroidery. Made by a young mum, stuck at home and desperately trying to find inspiration for doing some creative sewing, she chose this. It’s her washing machine!
Our last @ThreadsWar event featured a screening of ‘Scraps of Life’ plus Q&A, and artwork from students @StAndrewsIR and beyond. Thanks to all the participants, including students and members of the public, for making this an unforgettable closing event!
