I’ve been adamant the Vikings made the right decision moving on from Darnold. I still think JJ can be a good player, but gotta be able to admit when you’re wrong. Congrats to Sam Darnold - he’s done so much more than I thought he could and he proved me wrong. Happy for the guy!

@JasonHarmonNFL Dude WHAT?! Lol have you watched him play over the last 2 years? He is actually ass with like 2 good throws per game. Zero 0 chance he leads a team on a playoff run. Not worth setting JJ back even further for him. It’s JJ or a truly elite QB that gives a legit SB chance

@TPPSkol Or…maybe he is maximizing his leverage and running up his payday with other offers/interest, both HC and DC. Possibly signaling to ownership that he’s willing to walk for another DC job if the $ isn’t right. Certainly could leave, but not sure it’s a guarantee at this point

@Bira_Pessoa @spotrac Lol yes. My point was that a lot of these franchises are way too quick to pull the plug on their young QB, and they never get the opportunity to develop into one of the higher tiers. Impatience and rash decision making has killed a lot of talented young QBs careers

Maybe this game will make all the Vikings fans that wanted Aaron Rodgers to wake up. Signing him would have only delayed JJs development and set the franchise back further. I think in time it will be clear that the same is true with Sam Darnold. Vikings made the right decision

@_Drewskii__ @losoredd21 First year starting QBs are traditionally very bad. He showed serious arm talent, nice deep ball, plays his best when the game is on the line. He struggled with typical “rookie stuff” like turnovers, sacks, etc. he showed real signs of improvement as szn went on.

@_Drewskii__ @losoredd21 that isnt true and also not the point. It’s not about is Caleb or JJ better. so many young QBs take major steps forward between their first and second year playing. I don’t know how good JJ will be but it’s ridiculous to think you or anyone else does after 10 games.

@jay_vikingo @losoredd21 2 completely different scenarios. Bears were down in every game and Caleb was throwing it 33+ times a game. He was chaotic, taking a ton of sacks, and huge portion of their fan base was questioning him as a player. The point is players can take a major step from year 1 to year 2

@EriccNFL Unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re saying, I don’t see the point of a pre June 1 cut for hock. Especially considering kwesi and KOC likely won’t be here in 2027 if team isn’t good in 26

@EriccNFL Designating the cut as post June 1 would still allow us to be cap compliant, not sure what you mean. Also a post June 1 cut of hock gives Vikes an additional 7M in savings in 2026, with 5M in dead cap in 2027. Well worth it considering cap # keeps going up

@VikesCentral The offensive line was hurt the entire season. Of course they sucked, they were playing backups the majority of the year and multiple positions
