This is Marion Stokes, a Philadelphia librarian who began taping whatever was on television from 1975 until her death in 2012. She made a total of 71,000 VHS and Betamax tapes, which is the most comprehensive collection of television during this era.
She was able to pay for her recordings and storage space by investing early in Apple stock. Although she had never sent a single email, she managed to convince her friends and family to purchase Apple stock. Towards the end of her life, she had made so much money that she was able to store her tapes in nine apartments she had purchased over the years.
According to film director Matt Wolf, Marion Stokes "was interested in access to information, documenting media, making sure people had the information they needed to make good decisions."
Due to her political activism in her early years, Stokes was convinced that the government was keeping surveillance on her every move, and she became extremely cautious about her recordings.
She had every right to be paranoid as she lived through the Philadelphia MOVE bombing in 1985, in which the FBI and Philadelphia police used a helicopter to drop bombs during an armed standoff with MOVE members. The bombs started a fire that eventually destroyed 61 houses and killed 11 people.
Her work is currently being digitized by the Internet Archive, a non-profit library of millions of free books, movies, software, music, websites, and more.
@iJohnnyJB@jj_redick Suns won the game this picture came from.
Before this series Luka lost in the first round every time. And after this series, Luka was swept by Denver.
Book was the leading scorer on a team that made the finals in his first ever playoff run and he's 12-6 all time vs Luka.
@RespectfulMemes If the internet goes down, a lot of banking systems fail. They never hold on to all the money that's in there. It's being moved around, used, and tracked in an online system.
If the Internet goes down in an hour, buy supplies, then withdraw your money.
Phoenix Suns changing up their displays of greats in "Ring of Honor" with banners and murals that'll be displayed at halftime of home opener Oct. 28 vs. Utah Jazz at Footprint Center. #Suns
@InnaRage@DuaneRankin@NBATV Ayton's been taking the backseat. After the finals run, Jae Crowder was taking a ton of shots. Then a split between Mikal & Cam J/Torrey Craig
With the current team he could take 8-10 shots and be fine. So much gravity on the floor it's going to be the easiest buckets of his life
Chris Paul dropping knowledge on high school and college campers at the CP3 elite guard camp about the importance of communicating with teammates, especially defensively.

1. Accept you’re lazy. Making things as easy for yourself to do as possible. Like find the laziest way to do something as effectively as possible. My focus right now is on creating lazy-proof systems in my home & space. Like I moved my skincare to a place in my room where I run into it on my way out of the bathroom in the morning which cues me to use it. It’s mindless now. I put all my bathroom cleaning supplies in my bathroom so they’re right there when I need them & it takes me 10 mins to clean my entire bathroom. I got back the time I used to waste on finding everything—over time that 10-15 mins getting everything together adds up.
2. Don’t give everything you’re doing 100%— after burning out, I realized I needed to totally re-examine where and how I invest my energy. I don’t put 110% into cleaning my bathroom, that’s not efficient to me. I do my best but if it’s not perfect, idc.
3. Cut out the junk. When you cut out toxic people, it buys you back a lot of wasted time. When you stay away from drama & gossip, it buys you back a lot of wasted time. When you are surrounded by heathy friends & family, it saves you a lot of time. Choosing the right people is life changing. Following the right people is life changing. Consuming the right content is life changing.
4. "A stitch in time, saves nine." I was feeling overwhelmed recently with how much I feel like there is to do & then on top of that I kept finding more & more things to do & fix. Then I kept thinking about how it all never seems to end (thoughts became bleak 😶🌫️). My friend gently told me "when you notice it, just do it," and I say that to myself a lot now when I notice something out of place, needs fixing, or needs cleaning and it’s been working because then I hear her kind words & just do it. Even when the other voice in my head says "leave it for tomorrow”—her voice overpowers mine.
@laurenhtexas Stereotypes in society teach men to be tough and stoic so we can handle whatever comes our way. But that means a lot of men(not all) are bad at or uncomfortable with talking about our feelings. Especially with other men who are held to the same standards. Noone wants to feel weak
Almost 3 million households in Arizona will now be able to enjoy @Suns and @PhoenixMercury games for free. No more cost or TV blackouts for our fans! https://t.co/UCj5k2ocZp
@jdnyet @SergingSuns DA aint a superstar, but Mikal and Book got to work through their mistakes.
Everytime DA played bad, he was benched for good backup bigs. Once he's comfortable taking 2-3 dribble drives, his gravity is changing. We've seen flashes of it even as early as the rookie all star game.
@SergingSuns @jdnyet I mean, Mikal is older, was drafted the same year, and still just started taking it to the next level.
I'm not giving up on DA's potential just yet.
@TheHoopCentral Team B has way better spacing and multiple guys who have proven to succeed off ball. Composition just makes sense.
Team A is 5 drive & kick guys. Who they kicking it out to? Seems like their most consistent shooter is Jokic.
