I am honoured to serve as Stellenbosch University's 16th Chancellor. I look forward to doing my part, given the important role of universities in our democracy. It is critical that we protect them against threats to academic freedom. Watch here: https://t.co/SBROkV5lkH
Let’s be fair to restaurant and coffee shop owners. Yes, these spots have become our go-to meeting venues where deals are discussed, deadlines negotiated and dreams get brainstormed. But we must not forget they are businesses, not free co-working spaces with good lighting and table service.
The overheads are high, the profit margins are tight. Staff must be paid, rent is no joke, and every table counts especially during peak hours.
So no, it is not okay to order one lousy pot of tea and nurse it for three hours while asking for a refill of warm lemon water like it’s a spa treatment. That’s freeloading.
Let us respect the hustle on both ends; yours and theirs. If you’re going to occupy a seat, at least order like someone who understands that a business is trying to stay afloat.

Pope Francis was the rare leader who made us want to be better people. In his humility and his gestures at once simple and profound – embracing the sick, ministering to the homeless, washing the feet of young prisoners – he shook us out of our complacency and reminded us that we are all bound by moral obligations to God and one another.
Today, Michelle and I mourn with everyone around the world – Catholic and non-Catholic alike – who drew strength and inspiration from the Pope’s example. May we continue to heed his call to “never remain on the sidelines of this march of living hope.”
Obama just said what everyone’s thinking but too many are afraid to admit: If he had done even a fraction of what Trump’s doing—blacklisting press, punishing dissent, targeting student protestors—the outrage would’ve been deafening.
But now? Silence. Because when the Constitution gets torched by someone in your tribe, suddenly principles are optional.
This isn’t about policy anymore—it’s about power unchecked and hypocrisy on full display.
Am criticized for saying The West must pay visas to enter Zambia & every African country like Namibia is doing. A person who wants to come see the Victoria Falls can’t fail to pay $50 for Visa. The argument of removing visa fee to attract tourists is politically naive & stupid !!
a) A person from Argentina pays nothing, zero to enter Zambia
b) A Zambian needs to pay $150 to enter Argentina or be turned away
Namibia put its foot on the ground & refused that. They have now made $1.4 million in Visa fees, a month since refusing to be taken advantage off !
