South Africa will eventually have to draw the line somewhere.

If African governments say they don’t have the resources to even repatriate their own citizens, then the real question is: what is their long-term plan for those people once they are back home?

If a state cannot fund transport for a few thousand people today, how does it expect to provide jobs, housing, healthcare, and basic services tomorrow so those same people don’t end up returning to South Africa out of necessity?

South Africa cannot indefinitely absorb the consequences of governance failures elsewhere in the name of ubuntu or regional solidarity. At some point responsibility has to sit where it belongs: with the governments of those countries.

We need to start being honest about how we have normalised bad leadership, incompetence and corruption on the African continent, and how South Africa has had to bear the brunt of poorly governed nations for decades now.

But at some point, South Africa will also have to stop playing the role of enabler.

I will look away from all the noise and lots of tactical analysis made for the opener, there is for me something much more important than those analysis.

Mexico is playing their 8th
World Cup opener !!!

No Team has ever played opening games at the
World Cup like Mexico,
they are repeatedly involved in opening games in the World Cup history. Interesting !

All the experience Mexico has gained in World Cup history, something very interesting comes out,
Mexico has never won a World Cup opening match!!!

Openings are completely different from the group stage fixtures and the knock out stages later on.

I have been in football long enough to know that opening matches are very rare decided by tactics and concepts alone.

Most it’s decided who can handles the emotional pressure of the occasion.

Mexicos players will be very emotional and obviously driven with the energy of the occasion, the atmosphere and the expectation to win at home a World Cup opener is enormous pressure.

These is huge burden and such emotional momentum can obviously be very powerful in the game, but players can also be extremely vulnerable if it doesn’t go their way.

From Bafana’s perspective,
I don’t think the first objective should be to play the game in the opening moments, first is to survive the emotional waves, and if the score remains level, the pressure will not stay with Bafana.

It will be on the shoulders of Mexico.

That’s when game will become much more psychological as tactical concepts.

Bafana don’t need to prove that they are better than Mexico in the first 20 minutes.

If the boys can remain calm enough, to play their offensive transition game after the emotion settles, that could give Mexico problems in their defensive transition.
The impatience will changes their decisions and attacking will be rushed.
