#BREAKING: Psaki: “Now, the origin story of how we got here is very worth remembering because part of the reason Elon Musk’s companies were able to become so successful in the first place, is because they received a ton of government subsidies, investments, and contracts, and that money was especially crucial to Musk’s companies in their earliest days, when their success was far from a sure bet. Without a critical taxpayer funded investment during a very precarious time for Tesla, it may not have survived at all. And likewise, the financing and contracts that SpaceX received from the federal government in its early years, were absolutely VITAL to making it the company it has now become. So the federal government that Musk took his chainsaw to, was the SAME federal government that enabled that guy to become the world’s richest man by the massive margin we see today.” 🤔
The White House was built to serve the American people.
Tonight it was used to promote a company the President owns stock in, sell subscriptions, promote corporate sponsors, push Trump crypto, and enrich the President and his family.
The founders warned us about kings enriching themselves from public office.
They did not fight a revolution for this.
The World Cup begins tomorrow, and many will watch the matches. Soccer reminds us of something we must not forget: life is not a race to show off on our own, but a path we learn to walk together. Anyone who does not know how to pass the ball, even if they have talent, has not yet understood the game. Anyone who does not know how to live with and for others has not yet understood life. #ApostolicJourney
Nick Bilton walked into the 60 Minutes newsroom four days after Bari Weiss fired the people who built the show. He tried to pretend he didn't know about the firings. Scott Pelley, in front of the remaining staff, would not let that stand.
"She loves 60 Minutes," Bilton said. "She's murdering 60 Minutes," Pelley said back. "She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it - and she's doing exactly that."
One of Weiss's lieutenants kept interrupting to say Pelley was being rude. Pelley kept going.
JVL's framing is the right one. The corrupter depends on the existing institution being too polite to say the obvious thing out loud. Christopher Wray resigned quietly to "preserve the integrity of the FBI." John Kelly gave print interviews after he left. Thom Tillis, John Cornyn, Mitch McConnell, Jim Mattis, Bill Barr - all of them saw it. All of them objected privately. None of them said it in the room where it was happening, to the person doing it, while the cameras were still running.
Pelley said it in the room. To the person's face. In front of witnesses. While he still worked there.
That is a different thing entirely. Not a memoir. Not an anonymous source in a tell-all. Not a carefully worded statement issued after the resignation letter was already filed. The true thing, said out loud, to the people who needed to hear it, at the moment it could still matter.
Authoritarianism counts on politesse. It counts on people deciding the fight isn't worth the awkwardness, the career risk, the label of being difficult. Scott Pelley decided it was worth it. The republic needs more of that calculation to come out the same way.
It’s time for a copious helping of TRUTH as we wake up to another day of chaos, lies and distraction.
My thanks to legend and now former CBS 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley for his important words, and above all his courage to tell the truth.
Another casualty of a tyrants war on truth.

.@jamestalarico: I've had a lot of interviews with national media. No one's ever asked me about the cost of housing. No one's asked me about the cost of prescription drugs. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes.
The only minority destroying this country is the billionaires. Trans people are 1% of the population. Undocumented people are 1% of the population. We are all focused on the wrong 1%.
Trans people aren't taking away our healthcare. Undocumented people aren't defunding our schools. It's the billionaires and their puppet politicians
Ossoff: This war in Iran is the worst foreign policy blunder since Iraq. And just like the Iraq War, it's a war built on lies. Let’s update the record:
On day one, the president said it was running ahead of schedule. On day 10, he said it was very complete . Day 21, getting very close . Day 32, leaving very soon . On day 39, the President of the United States said a whole civilization will die…
And on the next day, day 40, he declared total and complete victory . Day 67, great progress. Day 79, the clock is ticking. Today is day 92 . And on day 92 Iran's ballistic missiles and drones have not been destroyed. The Strait of Hormuz, which was opened before the war is still closed. The regime is intact along with its stockpile of highly enriched uranium—a stockpile Iran only built after President Trump shredded President Obama's Iran deal
BREAKING: Trump's DOJ subpoenaed Reddit and X.
They want names, addresses and banking information of users who criticized ICE.
One user's "crime"?
Posting "F*** ICE."
That's it.
🔴 Led by Jeanine Pirro, Trump's personal ally
🔴 Users not told what laws they broke
🔴 Lawyers: "Bad faith attempt to unmask critics"
Same DOJ that pardoned Trump's IRS case forever.
Same DOJ requiring NDAs for 2 million federal workers.
Homelander didn't like being criticized either.
Anyone who spoke up became a target.
We called that fiction.
This is Wednesday morning.
They are building a UFC arena
on the White House lawn,
because the world has gone insane,
and there are chatbots in our skulls,
and our eyes have been crossed out
with black ink.
They are building a UFC arena
on the White House lawn
so the president can watch men fight in a cage
while the Paramount Plus audience
watches military recruitment ads
marketed to teenagers
and a podcast plutocrat
interviews men with bloody hands
as shame-soaked survivors
sleep on the sidewalk
in Washington DC,
as Cuban parents light a candle
and skip another meal,
as Lebanese medics
die in double-tap airstrikes,
as billionaires cackle
about stripping all human knowledge
and selling it back to us
as a subscription service,
as we shovel fistfuls of mood stabilizers
down our gullets
to keep us functional enough
to turn the gears of industry,
as we sit in dark rooms
with flashing screens and dead eyes
while silverfish crawl all over us,
as women hold loaded pistols
to their heads on camera
to pleasure men who have concrete
in their chests,
as The Last Good Thing on the Internet
gets purchased by Google
and turned into military software
where it will be used
to train weaponized robot dogs
to rape prisoners in IDF torture camps,
as forgotten godlings awaken within us
to sharpen our teeth and our blades,
as Nature returns
wearing a necklace of wet skulls
to reclaim all that was stolen from Her,
as the blood on the Octagon canvas
mixes
with the blood of the Muslim martyrs.
They are building a UFC arena
on the White House lawn
so the president can watch men fight in a cage
from the comfort of his home
on his birthday.
He does not know
about the strange beasts
stirring with in us.
He does not know
about the sharpening blades.
NEW: Sharyn Alfonsi goes scorched earth on Bari Weiss:
"Over the weekend, my contract with CBS News expired, drawing to a close nearly twenty years with the network, including more than a decade at 60 Minutes.
Following an intense editorial dispute over our CECOT story, repeated attempts by my representation to establish a path forward were met with absolute silence from network executives. The message could not be clearer: my time at 60 Minutes is apparently over.
In the coming days, network leadership may attempt to hide behind corporate euphemisms like "modernization" and “restructuring” to explain away my departure. Don't be misled. This was not a routine corporate transition; it was a deliberate choice to penalize a journalist for refusing to sanitize factually accurate reporting, and it sends a chilling message to the entire newsroom.
Fearless, independent reporting has always been the defining standard at 60 Minutes. Today, CBS management is abandoning that mission, choosing access journalism over accountability and protecting power rather than scrutinizing it.
The wall between editorial independence and corporate interest at CBS is being methodically torn down. Journalists willing to challenge authority are being pushed aside in favor of those who will not. If this continues, the result will be a broadcast that looks like 60 Minutes but lacks the courage and character to produce journalism that matters.
To my colleagues, who became family - working beside you has been the privilege of a lifetime. You are second to none. I’ve learned exactly what it costs to hold the line right now. Hold it anyway. Viewers and the people who trust us with their stories deserve nothing less."

Mitch McConnell blocked Merrick Garland for 422 days. Then turned around and confirmed Amy Coney Barrett weeks before an election. The Republicans packed the Court then, but call the idea radical now.
The result: an illegitimate 6-3 Court dismantling voting rights, workers' rights, and reproductive freedom. We need reform now.
This is Officer
Caroline Edwards.
She was attacked by the insurrectionists on January 6th. They cracked her heac open, resulting in a permanent brain injury.
For all those who support Trump's pardons and say you
"back the blue". You don't. You support fascism.
