I found this dead critically endangered #eel below the @esbgroup Ardnacrusha Hydroelectric Station on the Lower Shannon this morning. Thousands of silver eels are killed here each year passing through the turbines on their spawning migration. There is no downstream fish pass.

The @opwireland is currently ripping out trees from the banks of the nationally important Nenagh River. Riparian overhanging vegetation is vital habitat for fish and otters. This will not prevent flooding - but could cause it - and will destabilize the banks & cause erosion.
