MAVO “is single-handedly destroying the Nigerian music industry”
You have to be very ignorant of the music history to not have known KONGA and numerous street acts like him, who pushed the envelope and represent one of the pillars that sustains the industry.
Artists like Mavo are vital to the preservation of our music at its purest form; where it needs no explanation, purity or justification.
I can boldly say that MAVO singlehandedly destroyed the music industry.
I miss the days when Bnxn, Victony and Fireboy pushed the pen of artists… now everyone is creating weird new words that don’t mean shit. We are in the age of AFRO-DUMBO 😩
Itaré 🇹🇿 is the most impressive non Nigerian male Afrobeats artist I have ever encountered and also one of the most impressive debut albums to ever be released in the genre. The only way this sounds weird is if you haven’t heard his self titled debut album “itaré”.
This album reveals the beginnings of an extraordinary artist who already seems certain of his identity and artistic direction. Every element, from the featured artists to the tracklist flow to his vocal poise, feels intentional and assured.
Itaré is a masterpiece. And if this is just the beginning, then what lies ahead is nothing short of beautiful and He’s destined for greatness.
Standout
Tanzania 🇹🇿 y’all have got a Special One!!
There is a shift happening. The sound is not in Nigeria for sure. But where its next destination is going to be, is the million naira question!
East Africa is where I put my money tho
Because there isn’t structure to find artists in Africa, it’s important that those tasked with music decisions have the ear to find those with the sound but these labels just have token Africans sitting in their rooms wasting resources and with no clue on what’s next even if it were stuffed in their ears.
Keep promoting mediocre artists and hoping for lightning to strike twice.
Something is brewing in East Africa and I’m not sure the music scene on the continent is ready.
R&B✅
Hiphop ✅
Afrobeats ✅
Empire has one on their hands and they don’t even know. Like really yall let this 2025 album go unheard around the continent, the world with the kinda reach yall got ?? 🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

Since Africa’s best ref Omar Artan is all over Twitter today, it’s worth remembering that Wavin’ Flag the 2010 World Cup song and one of the greatest football anthems ever was also by Somali artist @KNAAN 🇸🇴🇸🇴
TYLA PICK A SIDE. SILENCE IS VI*LENCE!!!
The fact that there has to be pressure for Tyla to speak on the recent Xenophobic attacks in SA is disappointing.
How important is her music release in comparison to the violence and de@th being perpetrated. She owes her sound to the very nations she refuses to stand with. The silence is the statement
The biggest artist on the Continent can and should do better.

When are we going to talk about the A.I afrobeats artists showing up on the DSPs.
The issue isn’t whether it can replace real artists but rather how this impacts the reach of the music in the places afrobeats artists have always coveted.
I have always believed these foreign audiences have no loyalty to the genre and when an alternative shows up with A.I, they’ll easily switch.
Johnny Drille’s recent album reveals an artist whose main attraction has always been his uniqueness and pallet cleansing sound but today unfortunately sounds like the rest of the field. It’s either he’s stop paying attention or has become lazy!
