@sun_iron88 You have to understand, Russia used to be communist - things were either encouraged by the government and relatively cheap, or illegal imports. After this collapsed, Russians became very, very poor. The idea of paying for something that is free was stupid.
@T00NYBOY Did we all play the same games? The relays were meant to lead races to the Citadel, and in turn make a Reaper invasion easily spread outward from the Citadel. Being forced to attack from the edges and not wiping the Citadel Defence fleet wasn’t great for their plans.
@felis@azukiglg@DDSAZhgN0uCUpR8 I will. Honestly, I don’t read any manga right now because I want to own it, and I literally have no room for it. Once I move out, I will order some…
@felis@azukiglg@DDSAZhgN0uCUpR8 And so, people who pay get a worse experience due to this copy protection. Because being forced to use Kindle is not ownership.
Are you forced to read your physical manga only inside the store you bought it in? Of course not? “But if you leave the store, you might take photos!”
@felis@azukiglg@DDSAZhgN0uCUpR8 That’s not ownership. It’s a very limited license to view it. What if I want to copy the manga to a different app because I like that app? I can’t.
Oh, and don’t tell me it’s to stop illegal downloads. That’s laughable.
@songcastle712@azukiglg In the West, if a company only has 1 studio, and they distribute their work without using a publisher, this is called “self-publishing”, which Valve does. Or rather, did. Valve is known for NOT making games, and so, for not self-publishing lately.
@songcastle712@azukiglg After this experience, they didn’t want a publisher at all, so they made Steam to sell their game without using a publisher. This is called self-publishing.
@songcastle712@azukiglg Half-Life, for example, was published by Sierra. Counter-Strike is a mod for that game, and was also published by Sierra. Valve was merely the development studio, that also bought the copyright to Counter-Strike.
