Im gonna say it. You need hobbies that help you live in the present moment even if they’re technically not good for you. When you spend all your time focused on a past version of yourself (who was more fun), or a future version of yourself (who will *surely* be better off), youre stealing energy away from the only version of yourself who is guaranteed. Present you. The only person who can do anything about anything at all.
There’s a version of me that is wealthy, that is healthier, that is beautiful and radiant, that is more than the trauma she endured, and I can’t wait to meet her. I just know that I can’t meet her if I don’t make any changes today.
I stopped looking at discipline as sacrificing something, and started looking at it as honoring myself. I became more focused on my future self than constantly catering to my inner child.
The gym and yoga saved me. I found hobbies that keep me grounded (hiking, gardening). I managed my money better. I became okay with being bored. I started limiting what I expose myself to (media, people, environments) & ultimately I just decided I wanted better for myself.
