When Iโm not busy working im around horses and Russ and I enjoy walking our Cocker spaniel puppy Ralph (who is Tibshelf secret CFRโs mascot ๐พ๐)
Without responding Iโd feel like there was a bit of my life missing, I met my partner Russ through being part of Tibshelf CFRโs and have made friends/extended family for life.
When I found out about opportunities to volunteer as a First Responder I jumped on it! I thought to myself I could make my childhood dreams come true whilst also doing the job I love so much and give something back to my local community.
The joy and sense of satisfaction I get from responding is something that is so hard to explain but comes from meeting so many inspirational people along the way- both patients and responders.
Iโve now been in the NHS for the last 6 years. I am a Paediatric ward manager and specialise in training and educating both newly qualified and senior nurses in their clinical practice to keep our children and families safe during their stay in hospital. ๐ฉ๐ผโโ๏ธ๐ฅ

Since the age of about 3 I used to watch every medical program you could imagine ๐ I always saw myself being a Paramedic but decided to take a different medical career pathway as a Childrenโs Nurse.
Out of work I am a grandma to a very active nearly 3 year old, who I love having around and spending time with, (except for those times when it reminds me how unfit and older I now am, when trying to keep up with him, especially the "Chase me Chase me grandma" ๐๐ผparts lol)
My favourite thing about being a responder are those calls when you know at the end of it you have made a difference and helped that patient or family when they most needed it.
I am retired and had some spare time and wanted to put that to good use by helping the community and getting involved just like these people were at the training session and the role of the CFR they described to me sounded very interesting.
I got involved with the CFR's after attending a Defibrillator Training Session in my village which was held by our local Tibshelf & District CFR's.
