@emilyhewertson It was a terrible bill. Forcing millions of people to apply for an ID to exercise their democratic right is unfair. And, even if you believe in the basic principle, the list of permitted forms of ID in the bill disproportionately disenfranchised younger voters.
@NoLongerTheFuzz But if you don't have ID, you can just get someone else to order the parcel or alcohol for you. Why are you so happy to lock millions of people who have the right to vote out of voting?
@andycomfort@trevjrho When cuts were proposed before the last charter renewal, some stations laid out the plans on Facebook/Twitter and asked their listeners to comment. Now it seems everyone is cowed into silence. They don't understand local radio because they never engage with its audience.
@kevinhollinrake I await with interest what your party will propose as an alternative, having run away from dealing with it at all during 14 years of government.
@DSinck@andycomfort I think it's deliberate. The patronising tone of the email I had from a BBC local radio manager recently - "decisions will be made with the audience's best interests at heart." While she dismissed the concerns of an actual member of the audience who took the time to write in!
@andybfreed This was such a great job by @RaysRadio after such a long day of broadcasting and typical of @andybfreed to shout out the engineer, who wouldn't get a mention on most other broadcasts.
@KemiBadenoch@Helen_Whately It's pathetic, performative shite, playing on people's worst prejudices. And the worst part is, you know it's unworkable and will never happen. Despicable.
@CPhilpOfficial 38% of Universal Credit claiments are not unemployed, they're topping up a miserable income from low paid jobs. Are they exempt from this policy?
