Darth Vader was carved into this old church in Washington because of a 13-year-old boy 😅

In the early 1980s, while the Washington National Cathedral was still finishing its west towers, the builders partnered with National Geographic World magazine to host a children’s contest called Draw a Grotesque.

One of the winning entries came from 13-year-old Christopher Rader, who submitted a sketch inspired by Darth Vader’s helmet.

The design was approved and ultimately carved into limestone by sculptor Jay Hall Carpenter and stone carver Patrick J. Plunkett.

Today, the hidden figure sits high on the cathedral’s northwest tower.

Affordability is the key issue in housing right now. Some local areas have begun to experience a shift and started reducing prices. Hopefully this is a good sign for home buyers in 2025.

US existing home sales are set to close at 4.04 million in 2024, marking the worst year since 1995.

Sales are set to be even lower than during the 2008 Financial Crisis.

The lack of demand for existing homes comes as home prices have jumped over 50% since 2020.

Over the same time period, mortgage rates have nearly TRIPLED, making affordability even worse.

The average rate on a 30-year mortgage is up 100 basis points since September alone, to 7.1%, despite the Fed cutting rates by 100 basis points.

The US housing market is frozen.
