Hey Camille,
Just wanted to clarify something you noted on Locked on Bucks.
Gary Trent Jr. DID NOT get off to a slow start this season. At the 20 game mark he was still averaging 40% from 3 and close to 50% from the corners.
AJ did not outplay GTJ when Doc appointed AJ the starter and increasing his minutes relative to GTJ.
I vividly recall the home game vs. the Rockets where GTJ started 3-4 from 3 in the first quarter and yet barely touched the ball in the second half.
GTJ’s minutes and usage continued to decline and that is when GTJ struggled with his 3 point % dipping to 36%.
His struggles were surpassed by AJ who has struggled since January (with a handful of exceptions), yet Doc increased his minutes to over 35+ for several games to try and get him going. But no go.
In the end AJ has averaged 9.6ppg averaging close to 30 minutes as the starting SG. On the other hand GTJ is averaging 8.2 in ten less minutes a game. Doc erred twice: first by starting AJ in the first place and second by not giving GTJ the start in February after a month of AJ’s struggles. Doc has only hurt the Bucks by not starting GTJ every game.
That’s two years that Doc has not started GTJ despite being recruited by the Bucks and being the only starting calibre SG on the roster, costing GTJ $millions.
Didn’t hear that much about the 36 point performance either.
Cheers,
Napheesa Collier’s full statement today, where she challenged Commissioner Cathy Engelbert and the WNBA with directness and stunning detail we rarely hear from active players. Worth listening to every word.
Life is a game, God gave me good cards, I'm gambling, going all in. On the road to getting everything that I wanted, lost a lot of so called fam. It's cool you didn't believe in me I just hope that you proud of me now. I told you slowly, but surely back to the lab I go #WhyNotMe?
I don’t like giving updates without video proof, but just know I’ve been grinding every day. Working my hardest—nonstop. Love and appreciate everyone for the support. Slowly, but surely anything is possible when you put your mind to it! 👑⚡️ #WhyNotMe?
I miss those AV days! Gary lacing threes, JB rocking brons, and a headband! He's been doing this for so long. Going to have to bring in the Brink's truck.
Gary Trent, Jr. shot a perfect 5-5 from the field and still got shots up after the win.
Giannis spoke about GT’s work ethic, saying it’s not about what he saw from him tonight; it’s what he saw from GT yesterday on his day off and the work he consistently has put in all season.
