The kids all wanted the glow sticks 🤷‍♀️ I asked if they could have the candy and all the parents said yes, so all the kids got both. @steviewpip @ZJAyres Sometimes I do still think "what if I'd stayed" or "maybe I'll go back to school"... but I'm still happy I made the decision to leave.

I would like to see better support for grad students, in all aspects. STEM often has a stipend, but that's only part of "supporting" students.

@steviewpip @ZJAyres I quit start of my 4th year (after spending most of my 3rd year miserable from all of the above plus physically sick) and "mastered out". I still love chem and encourage it but with caution. I'm now in tech/telco doing process/ops! Still have some science w/that and way happier!!

@and_cities @PhDVoice Academia- also good to note that many research labs vs classes/office hours are not in the same building, so calendar alone share misses the true availability (same really for industry if dealing with on site client meetings, but less impactful with internal/remote meetings)

Academia: would send out avail poll (usually Doodle). Also works when collab w/colleague at other institutions

@EmmaBostian Pretty forgiving and you can really use any fish (or shrimp or chicken or any meat) and you can mix up the veggies. We always use bell pepper and onion, but it's honestly whatever we have on hand. I like to snack on the leftover veggies wth chips the next day 😍

@EmmaBostian Toss the diced veggies in the marinade and let sit in the fridge. Add diced avocado and tomato and toss before serving.
Plate the rice and cod next to each other and heap on the veggies!

@kvlly That relates to chem. 3 letter fed agencies/state equivalents (e.g. EPA/NIH), pharma, chemical companies. I can't speak to data science directly, but even in telco I pull from my analytical chem training all the time. DM me if she thinks my bg/role would help :)

@kvlly I switched from chem (analytical) to telco. I had some grad school friends switch to programming, so we're around! Depending on where she is in her career, her sub specialty and her feelings on chem (wants a change vs DONE), she may be able to find a data scientist position 1/2

@tea_francis BUT STILL. This is media overhyping science and relaying (realistically) incorrect info. I've seen so many scientific studies where this has happened too (turmeric anyone?)

@tea_francis I'm terrified of spiders (I know it's irrational 😅🤷‍♀️ also afraid of sloths) AND EVEN I KNOW this is all crazy out of proportion.

And I'm terrified of spiders. And react to their bites (clementine-orange sized local swelling but I still think my phobia is irrational). 1/2

@lonehawk77 @EmmaBostian I'm pretty sure I've had conversations in acronyms + maybe articles like "the". Granted, I'm in tech (telecom) but didn't have that b/g at first, so I translate pretty well I hope. I quoted JRR Tolkien about 2hrs ago to ask where/how the data traffic needs to travel 😂🤷‍♀️
