@TigerCommenter Makes a curious mind wonder if the first one was a reminder to someone to make the second one happen. I'm not a Cane!! Okay, now I'm a Cane..........
Sweet Moment at Truist Park:
Two kids from CHOA designed the paint scheme for Chase Elliott’s car that he will be racing in at Echo Park Speedway in July. It’s baseball themed, something Chase loves as a Big Braves fans.
@ClemSportNews How is Hawkins the better fit? I'm only curious because I don't know much about the 2028 prospects yet. Beyond the fact he's playing not so far away by comparison in Calhoun, I know nothing else.
@Zigmanfreud@iahphx Wait, you already see the future and know that once all votes are counted - however incredible it seems that is isn't done already - the results will be of the utmost integrity? Or maybe we all need to wait for evidence. Suspicion is NOT evidence, however.
@MOJOPatriot@DawgsForLife95@Vern_Funquist@QuincyAvery True to a degree. Schools first have started cutting sports that don't generate revenue to save costs, making more funds available to FB/BB. That screws more serious students who are athletes. At some point, schools may have to spend less after exhausting all options. Not ideal.
Some great news: Hevin Brown-Shuler, whom Clemson announced was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma last week, was out in the summer heat this afternoon working with campers at Dabo Swinney's High School Camp.
Brown-Shuler is in the middle of his own fight, yet still giving back.
@MOJOPatriot@Vern_Funquist@QuincyAvery Who is saying players should accept scholarships and special food, healthcare, lodging, and training as the only compensation?? Point is simply that before NIL and the House settlement it's not true they were "unpaid".
@Zigmanfreud Is it either rare or unexpected, though? So many believe (hope?) the elected class should be the more mature, thoughtful, and deliberate group of adults. But often it's difficult to even find adult behavior. Soundbites earn more votes and $ over effective legislation. Sadly.
@chanceyjohn 2/2 try to limit any of the financials in order to prioritize academics seems ripe for challenge, and might win either in lower courts or at the top. Lawyers are dying to take those efforts on. Esp those who will earn once CFB is purely biz w/max revenues.
@chanceyjohn I'm not at all suggesting I have the answer, either. But my sci/tech background says always start w/basics. And to me that's - SCOTUS refused "amateurism" and "academic tradition" arguments. Decision was almost entirely justified on antitrust grounds. So, any effort to 1/2
@gregbradyx@debrajsaunders We know so many details already. Wonder why? 🤔 This has a strong feel of someone aiming to take a "noble" and very public stand.
@chanceyjohn 2/2 Just as schools can't effectively commercialize tech created, they are proving incapable of co-managing $ gen sports along w/academics. Only solution to me is a split. Let the college earn by brand licensing, if that works. Sucks, but there's no other way.
@chanceyjohn I don't see a natural fit of academics and rev generating athletics at this point. As decisions are increasingly made following biz rules, academics become more of a perk or adder, not a necessary part. The "illegal" quest by the academic side only proves it for me. 1/2
