Can someone explain to me the point of Francisco Liriano or Mike Fiers? If they do well, you win more games when the team is tanking. If they perform poorly, they’re blocking a spot from a young guy who, in theory, would contribute when the team is good again.

Given injury rates with pitchers as a whole, I’m of the mindset that I’d rather have them learn at the major league level if they’re close to ready. In this case, it’s a low pressure environment and odds are that service time doesn’t end up mattering for them in the long run. https://t.co/XSs5veo0I3

@electricsnuff Zimmerman, I understand trying to recoup your investment. Liriano & Fiers starting over anyone makes no sense. Would rather have young guys get lit up, learn, and iterate. Once the contention window opens (it won’t with this front office, but in theory) then those guys are ready.
