Mainstream media in every industry is obsessed with the past. "Stuck culture", nostalgia, boomers refusing to let go, whatever you want to call it. See Top Gun, Rambo, etc for obvious examples
In the past younger creatives were given room to grow but that didn't happen, so they moved online. They still felt choked by toxic nostaliga, and that led to Analog Horror: an almost literal horror of the past consuming the future
Kane Parson's Backrooms movie is the crowning gem of this philosophy and will change nothing

I understand your opinion. Respect it. I think this comes down to it being a movie with a very strict short timeframe to tell a somewhat compelling and complex story in an 1 hour 45 minutes.

So you wanted a longer movie? I would 100% be ok with a longer film but for a new IP I think they nailed it.

The IP definitely deserves a longer form of storytelling with a series.

Not every movie needs to follow the same formula. Why is everyone so resistant to any type of creative work.

Sometimes I agree they fall flat.

This is not one of them. It did an excellent job. The 2nd half of the dialogue I agree was a bit much but I cannot complain what so ever.

They did better then I thought and it actually was much better then I expected.
