you open the tab and there is one mini golf hole. that's the whole game. one new hole every midnight pacific. same hole for everyone in the world. your first finish counts.

you click the ball, drag back like a slingshot, let go. the further you pull, the harder you hit.

today's hole is called "Up and around." it's an S-shaped tropical island floating in dark teal water, with cross-barriers and one little wooden ramp that i ricocheted off three times in a row. par 6.

at the top of the screen, a live ticker scrolls past in real time:

We’ve learnt some bad news that Donny Strathie passed away in Boston on Sunday. He had a ticket for the Morocco game, but never got the chance to realize his World Cup dream.

In Dallas the Stockyards are a fun place to visit, see the cattle, shop, and some good food. You can also go to the Dallas zoo, see some of the night life, or got to a Rangers baseball game if they are in town. Also, go to Buc-ee’s, everyone not from Texas must experience them at least once.

Depending on your travel radius you can also head south to Waco to see Baylor University or the Dr Pepper museum, Austin to check out some of the music scene, University of Texas, the capital, or Hill Country in general. You can also keep going south to San Antonio to see the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and some really good Hispanic food and culture. For really good BBQ where it all started you can go to Lockhart which is east of Austin and is officially the “Barbecue Capital of Texas,” where a lot of the original smokehouses started. Fredericksburg west of San Antonio is a fun tourist town with German roots and is also close to a number of wineries. If you go even farther south you can hit Houston and the gulf coast, it is just a bit of a drive.

Bear in mind that Texas is BIG, you can drive 8-12 hours depending on direction and starting point in the state and still be in Texas. Hopping between the main cities is usually about 2 hours drive time per hop, but there is a lot to see in some of the smaller communities between the cities. Dallas traffic can be rough, but that’s true of all the cities in Texas.

I know the rule now. I have made my peace with the basket. One basket. Two at the most.

Who am I deceiving. There is no number of baskets I would refuse. The trust of a nation is in that salsa, and I intend to honor all of it.
