Our own @FranzAnnem spotted an interesting parallel between this stone from Burghead, held at @NtlMuseumsScot, and the Govan Warrior.
Note the pointed beard, long hair, and most importantly, small, round shield held on shoulder straps on the left side of the body.
Exciting discovery @GovanStones over the weekend led by UofG's Prof @driscoll_s & @ArchaeoClyde revealed a remarkable early medieval carved stone of a warrior figure, unlike any others found at the site, known for its Viking-age sculptures.
