In a BMA survey 1 in 4 GPs responded that they knew a colleague who died by suicide.
Earlier this year @NHSEngland announced they would be cutting funding to @NHSPracHealth which provides mental health support to NHS Staff, this has now been extended to only March 2026.
Dr Tilakkumar closed her account by speaking on the impact COVID-19, and working in the NHS, has had on her mental health. A powerful message of the long-standing effect of the pandemic.
Thank you for sharing your story.
I have signed an @RCGP joint letter calling on @wesstreeting to employ enough GPs to give patients the care they deserve. The more GPs in England sign up to the campaign the more likely he will listen https://t.co/TcxbWLBsjY
Day 2 of #BMAARM25 saw debates on crucial issues affecting the profession, as well as addresses from @BMA_NI, @BMAScotland and @BMACymru Council Chairs.
Watch along for the highlights 📽️

Big NHS interview on @BBCr4today with @amolrajan and @AmandaPritchard - and it was all hospitals, hospitals, hospitals. Only mention of GP was how hard it was to get an appt. Come on R4 you can do better. Gen practice is the only part of the NHS with year on year zero deficits….
Many of you are seeing the realities of the national insurance changes and how they are affecting the future viability of your practice.
Increasing collective action is the ONLY way for GPs to get the message through to Government.

If grassroots GPs are telling @doctor_katie "this is going to break us", the time for collective action in general practice is surely NOW.
Make sure you are involved to protect your practice, your staff and your patients.

GPs and practice teams have never been more unified by our desire to protect our patients, practices, and safeguard our collective future. Taking action won’t breach the GP contract but will show local health systems & NHS England our strength of feeling.
The time to act is now.

Please consider signing this open letter expressing your dismay at the leniency of the MPTS’s sanction on NHS surgeon James Gilbert who, for over a decade, sexually harassed female trainees.
The letter is from the 4 brave women who testified. (1/4)
Thank you to @HaringeyWeCan for spotlighting @TheBMA campaign. Our fight is your fight ✊🏾
Solidarity with all the community groups I was privileged to share the stage with tonight.
Honoured to present this vital motion on behalf of General Practice @TheBMA#ARM2024 and be supported as a ‘first-time attender’ by
@doctor_katie
Let’s welcome and encourage the next generation of GPs to @BMA_GP
"For some of us, this is our reality".
We hear from newly qualified GP @tilnaST & @doctor_katie on why the #ARM2024 motion calling to restore the rights of GPs to employ the staff they need is so important and why we must support the campaign to #TakeActionSaveGeneralPractice.
Brilliant motion from Haringey GP @TilnaST (where I trained on the Whitt VTS!) & d’you know what? She’s right - we should have been doing this years ago - but the #GPBallot is open now.

How many
@NHSEngland Trusts have implemented this? 10days leave for pre-24 week pregnancy loss, and 5days for partners.
Let’s take this to @TheBMA ARM to make it happen across all 4 nations
Support my motion:
(3/4) This meeting recognises the National pregnancy and baby loss people policy framework (March 2024), stating that NHS staff in England should be offered up to 10d paid leave for the person who is pregnant and 5d for the partner for any pre-24-wk baby loss, in addition to time
