Being gay is not wrong. It is not "degenerate" behavior. It is not an aberration or amoral. It might be wrong or unnatural for people who are not gay. But that doesn't make it objectively wrong or unnatural. So what makes men gay? Nobody really knows. There are all sorts of theories but a small percentage of men are just gay. Science can explain it to a degree...but the exact reason remains elusive. Science can't explain why humans sleep yet humans sleep every night. Science can't explain why humans yawn or the exact purpose of fingerprints. Humans do things that are mysterious to academics and researchers. Why do certain animals exist? The platypus is a strange looking creature but killing all platypuses because they look strange would be madness. There must be a very good reason that platypuses look the way they do. Nature has a funny way of helping creatures to continue living. We fight to preserve endangered species because they obviously have a role to play, even if it's not known. Science can explain why humans fall in love. It's a powerful automatic chemical process driven by the brain's reward system, hormones and evolutionary survival needs. Sex and love between humans is more about bonding and furthering the human species than sex itself. Sex and attraction are merely the delivery system for safety and security. Sex between humans makes everything work. It makes the world safer and more secure. Sex is not really about sex. Gay men do fall in love with each other. They pair up for a lifetime or for an hour. The vast majority of men will want to pair with a female. That's the reality. But a very small percentage of men will want to have sex with and fall in love with other men despite social conditioning against it. Governments, institutions and religions will make laws against it and decry homosexuality, but it doesn't actually stop men from being gay. It just happens naturally. Punishing gay men, discriminating against them and sometimes killing them doesn't stop it. It still happens. Almost all gay men were raised by heterosexuals. Homosexuals don't breed, yet there are still homosexuals. That's a biological fact. It only happens to a small percentage of men. No more than 2-3% of men identity as gay. Our numbers might seem larger because of all the attention we get. We're like an endangered species. We obviously have a role to play in humanity. This is why we have legal and social protections. Gay rights are human rights. The right to privacy and the right to love who you want to love. To be anti-gay is to be anti-human and anti-life. We balk at arranged marriages today. We, as a society, have decided that a grown human can decide who they want to spend their time and their life with. We bristle at laws that restrict freedom...or most of us do. We might object to what others do with their bodies. Some eat themselves into obesity. Some take risks with extreme sports. Some pump all sorts of drugs and chemicals into their body. We try to guide people into living safe and healthy lives, but ultimately humans do what they do whether we understand it or not. Every human has a role to play. Absolutely no one is a moral authority on anything because they cannot see the bigger picture. To be able to say definitively that being gay is wrong, a person would have to have a top-down view of all of humanity. They would have to know all of human history and more. They would have to have a deep understanding of biology, physics, neuroscience, psychiatry, and medicine. They would have to have powerful psychic abilities and be able to read minds. They would have to understand things not yet known to humans. The more a person learns, the more he realizes he doesn't know much. Some men are gay. It doesn't have to be understood. Gay men spend most of their lives trying to understand it. But eventually they stop trying to figure it out and just enjoy being gay for the rare and beautiful experience that it is.
