Sam Glode carried an extensive knowledge of plants and medicines passed down from his grandmother, Polly Labrador, a respected medicine woman.
He understood how each plant supported the animals & people of Kespukwitk (SW N.S.)

October is Mi’kmaw History Month, and this year’s theme is Mijipjewey Na Mawa’luksi’k (Me gyp je wey na Ma waa loog seeg). Take a look at this year’s poster to learn more and join us in celebrating how food gathers us together.
During a visit to the Smithsonian's Museum Support Center, Barb Sylliboy, Geordy Marshall, & Ashley Sutherland viewed a collection of Mi'kmaw belongings. What appeared to be tufted moose hair designs turned out to be intricate quillwork❤️
@JarvisGoogoo These artifacts and the Debert artifacts prove thousands of years of Indigenous life and culture in Nova Scotia. Thousands of years of occupation that protected the natural environment rather than destroy it. We all need to cherish that legacy and learn from it.
Join me, Dorene Bernard (Sipekne'katik First Nation), Louise Delisle (Shelburne), and Michelle Francis-Denny (Pictou Landing First Nation) for a free screening of our documentary "There's Something in the Water", followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. @McMasterU@mcmasterhum
