Today is a game day in my art room. I’m doing a few things @TimBogatz mentioned on Art Ed Radio a few weeks ago. Students are starting with “Last Artist Standing” then my younger students are making modular drawings for surrealist book of sorts.
New: He used AI to win a fine-arts competition. Was it cheating? We talked to the creator, the artists he beat, oil painters, art critics and the judge, who said "it had an immediate story: People looking out into another world" https://t.co/Gpi6nUgPWD
Grades can be punitive, inaccurate, inequitable; assessment is key! Take a look at these ways (from tipping your toes in by removing grading hurdles to piloting a grades-free system) & create authentic teaching & assessment practices! #k12artchat#gradesfree#assessment#artsed
This year I’m trying to mix things up with my Friday art games. After listening to Art Ed Radio from @theartofed and @TimBogatz I decided to play “last artist standing” then make collaborative drawings. To add to the fun I printed some custom stickers for the winners.
Today’s Art Ed Radio from @theartofed was great to listen to as I set up my classroom. @TimBogatz talked about the importance of sharing resources and supporting fellow art teachers. Who do you all follow? https://t.co/LlihCOpJ1r
Contour drawing is always worthwhile in the first days of school. @RobTheArtTeach had a great presentation at the NOW Conference that talked a little bit about contour work.
Sarah Krajewski also has a great how-to that explores tips, tricks, ideas, and benefits of doing blind contour drawings with your kids.
