Just to let people know my dear mum, Christine Brown passed away peacefully on Friday aged 83, after a short illness. She can now be reunited with my dear dad Brian. I’ll post funeral details for anyone who wishes to come as I have not got contact numbers for a lot of people now
@Yarmouthbirder I remember my dad telling the story of hiding in a ditch scanning a field with big clods of earth in it early in the morning, when one clod stood up and started walking around! Spent many times with him driving around the area trying to find the famous spot but never quite sure!
@canttmi73 I remember hearing the news whilst out with Bert Axel and my mum. We drove to see it and I still clearly remember the joy in Bert’s face as he marvelled as much at the rapidly growing crowd around us as the bird itself!
Finally got moth trap built and had a good catch last night! First Eyed Hawkmoth I’ve ever seen and in the garden to boot. Hope it shows it’s eyes before departing!
No sign of the Warblers in Bonds Meadow this evening til 2000. Gripped on my doorstep! Bloody work! Nice to see the Owlets in a relatively decent light tonight though
@LowestoftLizard@erinmccartney Been so out of touch with you all didn’t even know you were engaged. Congratulations to you both and have a wonderful day!
@RareBirdAlertUK@LowestoftLizard I was 5 and remember seeing it through my dads (Brian Brown) scope! Memory of playing in the dunes is probably clearer than the bird though!
